Hi Everyone

Fistuk has been very poorly today. It started with a poo after breakfast that was followed by a few failed attempts to get something out with yowls. He tried on different places in the house, squeezing and nothing but a small drop of pee coming out.

Eventually I gave him Microlax and it helped to get whatever small little pieces that were there out and then he relaxed. He ate the +3 and +6.5 snack without hesitation and then I left the house for a few hours not suspecting anything. I had my own mini operation today with a big cut and few stitches - wasn't great to come home and discover vomit on the bed.

At supper time he really didn't want to eat but we string fed him, roughly half the amount before he omitted. so We stopped feeding him. He went to sleep.

He vomited after about an hour a bit more, small amount of food. After an hour he woke up and looked like he'd be interested in something but just to the smell of food he already turned his head around. I gave him 2ml of water with a syring which he omitted after about 15 mins. He didn't want anything to eat anymore and I didn't force it.

He's looking very uncomfortable.

Luckily we have a vet visit scheduled today (it's 3am my time here, vet visit at 2pm which is @+7 on the 26th). But I'm wondering about insulin in the morning if he doesn't eat. He's on 0.8 at the moment - shall I give him a partial dose? Shall I syringe feed if he doesn't eat by himself ?

@Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee @Angela & Cleo

Important to add - Fistuk hasn't been eating by himself his breakfast or supper for a good week now and we had to syringe feed but it went well and he ate snacks happily and by himself. The last round of Ab he got finished on 3/12 and he's already showing the signs of the infection again - teary eyes and some nose congestion.

The vet's visit scheduled is to preparing for the teeth extraction surgery scheduled for 4/9.

Thanks for your help.

Poor Fistuk. :bighug:. Did he get a probiotic along with the antibiotic? Antibiotics can make the tummy feel awful. It does sounds like he's nauseous. I'd get Cerenia (for vomiting) and ondansetron if you can get it. I'm also worried about the pee situation. Is he doing larger pee clumps now? If not, the vet really has to take a look at him ASAP.

You could give a half dose of insulin, and syringe a little food, if that works. Cats undergoing anaesthesia who cannot eat, can still get a half dose.

Hi Shelly. I am sorry to read that Fistuk is not well, especially since you are not well either, it is a lot. It sounds like he is nauseated? Did he act like that when he had pancreatitis a few years ago?
I hope you get good advice soon. I'll tag Bhooma too @Bandit's Mom , who might be up before people on this side of the world.
Thinking of you :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Wendy.
He hasn't peed since the morning. Fistuk pees normally twice a day but after al the vomiting he hasn't had any pee.

I didn't give him probiotics with the AB. Unfortunately I don't have a good one here. It's hard to find here PB that doesn't have sugar.
I still have Sivomixx which is considered a good PB but it'll spike his numbers - do you think I should give it to him?

I'm thinking of giving him 80ml SQ fluids in the morning to make sure his not dehydrated and then we'll see if he pees.

I had Ondansetron which works better for him than Cerenia - can you pls remind me how much I should give him and how much to start with? he weights 3.9KG now

Thank, Cecile.
I thought (the damn) Pancreatitis. But I don't think was acting the same as far as I remember. I was a while ago.
What I remember was that he was very poorly and he didn't want to eat but in specifically it was impossible to touch him and when I lifted him to the toilet he screamed of pain.
Last night when I gave him a belly rub he received it with great pleasure and when we picked him up to try the toilet he wasn't screaming.
I'd say I probably would suspect more poor post AB tummy.

I woke up to the toilet and get some pain killers so was able to check on hm. He's trying to get some sleep but his a bit restless.
Thanks for thinking of us:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Karolina. Your support means a lot to us :bighug::bighug::bighug:

You give 0.5-1.0 mg/kg. Try 2 mg and see how it goes, increase if needed.

You can always try a few doses of the probiotics to see if it helps him. From recent experience (sigh!), I found probiotics helped pretty quickly.

To check if he's dehydrated, his gums should be slick and not sticky, and if you tent his skin around the neck is should fall down right away.

Sorry to hear Nenkoy needed AB :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh Shelly, I’m so sorry to see this post and Fistuk looks sad.
I’m glad he accepted belly rubs so that’s good.
I’m hoping you’ve already seen the vet today and have some answers and ways to help him feel better.

Sending you both healing vines and lots of good wishes. Please keep us posted. We’re thinking of you both.
