3/8 Binx AMPS 196, +4 238 - Inverse curve?

Has anyone dealt with inverse curves before? That seems to be Binx's pattern... except when he decides to have a more "typical" curve and drop into the limes. I've seen in different threads it's either a sign of too much or too little insulin, classic :(

Right now his meal times are about half his cycle calories and then equal snacks at AM +2/+4 and PM +1/+2/+4. Wondering if I should shift these around to help manipulate his curve a bit more? Any insights would be wonderful :cat:

Safe Saturday surfing all!

Interesting observation, Briana! I'll be equally interested to hear some feedback on your question.

An "inverse curve" can also be the sign of a bounce. That's what you are seeing today. A bounce can happen when the dose is too much, too little, or just right. Note, some cats, as they are getting ready to break a bounce, can go high before they dive down low. That's what you saw a couple days ago.

It's hard to say how the 1.75 units dose is doing at this point. The depot of the 2.0 unit dose is still influencing the cycles. The larger depot can influence 4-6 cycles after a reduction.

As far as food goes, when Binx has dropped low in the AM, he's done it quite often later in the cycle. Also a couple of the night cycles. Which makes me wonder about those days when you aren't around later in the AM. Just wondering if he needs something around +6 too?

Hi Briana, many of our cats are big bouncers. Especially in the beginning of the FD journey.
As Wendy suggested, perhaps a small snack at +6 may help.
It’s worth a try to see what happens.
It’s so much experimenting that goes on with our cats :bighug::cat::bighug:

Thanks, Wendy! Those a really helpful insights, especially for me who is still learning and understanding bounces and depots and all the things that come along with FD. I was actually quite confused when he went high and then very low the other day, so this explanation gives me clarity.

I'm going to give the +6 snack a try and see how he does with it! Appreciate the advice :cat:

Thanks, Staci :bighug: I'm learning so much through everyone here and it's been so helpful for Binx. Time to experiment with the +6 snack!

I don't have any advice, but I have the same issue! If it's gonna go green, it often goes lime too. I'm sorry that it's been a stressful run lately! I hope someone has some advice for you that works.

Thanks, Brianna! I see Xander had a big drop today, I hope both our boys steady out soon :bighug:
