Hi all,

Yesterday’s post:

This morning I’m thinking about my mindset for when the trial is done.

I know how long the cats stay in remission varies. So I will just be grateful for every day he’s here and if something happens, tackle it as it comes.

Similar to times during this journey, I just want to know how it’s going to play out. But I hope he at least gets a little time off.

Have a great day! - Tim

Jude stayed in remission for about five months, BUT he probably should have gone down to the .10U and drop. We were doing SLGS at the time, though, and he was low enough that I wasn't supposed to shoot him. If I had held him longer in those numbers, I think his remission might have been stronger. He also has chronic UTIs, and that's what tipped him over the edge and out of remission. All that to say, Pookey is relatively healthy, outside the FD (no urinary issues, like Jude), and you've really been holding these numbers for a good while, so if he comes out of remission, it won't be from you not following the rules and doing your best to ensure he's solid at this point. Try not to worry about it, though, and enjoy every minute of him being OTJ. Also, I've been meaning to mention this to you, the guidelines say that after a month you need to test only monthly, but I never did that; I always tested weekly, and I'm glad I did because I caught him as soon as he began going up. Also, is Pookey technically OTJ today? Or is it tomorrow?

Happy Day 13 of the OTJ Trial, Tim and Pookey!!

Thanks Mary!! 5 months is still a win. And who knows, maybe even with different dosing the UTI still would have done what it did. And good idea about the ongoing weekly test. I think that’ll be my plan (weekly Pookey condo?) :bighug:

I know they talk about strong remissions, and I worry about that for Pookey because he seems to be running on the higher side still. This whole time I’ve never seen a number in the 50s… so it’s like could I have held doses longer looking for those numbers? I guess I’ll never know.

Each day is a WIN, for sure. Just keep him way from the donuts and tacos! :D;)

Wonder what it'll feel like going out again and not worrying.

You're almost at the end of this journey :joyful::cool::smuggrin::D
Forever or for now - only time will tell.

I can only imagine how strange it must feel, Tim, as FD is so all-consuming for us caregivers. You'll have to take up a new hobby! ;)
Haha, thanks Helen! It is an adjustment time for us right now. I’m sure I will still helicopter over him as a hobby ;)

We are all so excited for you and Pookey, Tim. You’ve done a purrrrfect job getting to remission.
We are all so happy. And please do stop by and keep us posted on his success (and some adorable Pookey photos and stories!
Happy Day 13

Thank you Staci :bighug::bighug: will do. Happy to see your vet visit is over with!

Woohoo almost there
Happy Day 13! :cat::D:cat::D:cat::D:cat::D:cat::D:cat::D:cat:

Nestle stayed in remission for a year and 4 months. Any day in remission is a victory. Of course ECID so it varies. But you both did so well :cat::cat:

From counting down the days to now counting down the hours. It must've been a weird feeling to intentionally skip the dose the first day of the trial and now I imagine it'll feel weird to not even think about shooting AND no ear pricks.

It's so embedded in us to want to know how the next number is going to come out and now how long Pookey will have in remission, but day by day! You'll get comfortable and he'll get comfortable.

Congrats on day 13 :D:D:D

Aww thanks for the encouragement and nice words Briana. You’re pretty spot on. Day by day is great advice :bighug:
