4/11 --PHOEBE -- amps 250

Hoping that there's nothing to worry. Are you seeing any difference in the way she eats? Or is she pawing her mouth? Anything to indicate discomfort?

If you see nadirs over 200 today, you can increase the dose tomorrow.
 
She seems to eat ok. I haven't seen any pawing or excessive licking of mouth. She is sitting again with her head pulled back a bit. (like after surgery)
I tried to open her mouth last night -- unfortunately she fought me all the way. In order to open her mouth i almost have to put pressure on the area
where she had her teeth extracted. I don't want to hurt her.
I will increase her tomorrow again if she is remains over 200 today.

vet visit--no infection seen. Covenia given just in case.
agrees mouth a little stinky. Feels sugars in 200's ok at this time. Not sure on this.
As a nurse I kind of don't agree. I feel I should be watching and treating as I am, adjusting to get he into the greens, maybe a few low blues.
Could her stinky mouth be the diabetes? I have yet to be abel to catch a urine for ketones.

My vet wants to be able to view my spreadsheet for history.
If I share with them will it be a view only sheet? need a little help on this one---Bhooma?

Vets prefer to have cats low enough to be below the renal threshold but much higher than normal numbers for safety. Most people don't test. Your goal should be to get her tightly regulated, if not in remission again :-)

Yes. The SS link in your Signature would be View Only. But do you want to share it with your vet? Does he/she understand/support TR? We have had vets give members a lot of grief about following TR and "endangering" their cats!
 
this is what I was thinking. She is a good vet and is very smart. But the one thing she said was she seem to understand that fdmb was a little aggressive in getting the lower numbers. But I defended the site by saying fdmb is made of alot of people coming together who research alot and site veterinary medicine and have sat up with me in the night when Phoebe was low--talkling me through the rough times. The support, I said, is by far the best support to have with a diabetic cat that is there all times night and day. I may not share. I do have my little journal I can take with me that I keep also for a reference for my comments. I also told her the support I get motivates me to get educated on the veterinary medicine sites and look and research and not just be a stand by person. I also said fdmb has been a good resource for my other kitties.
I have faith in the people here. I can tell where there is passion and knowledge. Thanks to all for helping me and everyone on this site.
Ok-i will step off the crate. She did mention one thing. When I go out of town maybe I should put one of those sugar monitors (Libre?) on Phoebe to keep track when nobody is here to check her sugars, in case she starts to drop and my sitter wouldn't know it and just keep giving her the same dose. Anyone have any experience with this device? For what I can see it is a bluetooth app which means you have to be close to Phoebe to get a reading. I don't think my sitter can handle an app like that on her phone.

When Kobe had the Libre 3, I brought my old phone out of retirement to link to the App, but it was old enough that the phone didn't support the app.

So, I put my SIM card in the old phone and Kobe used my new one because it supported the app.

Long story short, you can get a phone for Phoebe that supports the app, but it doesn't need to be on a network or plan or anything. It just needs Bluetooth and Internet at your place. Keep it within 30 feet of the cat. You can look at BG on that phone. So pet sitter can check it.

From the App in the cat's phone, you can share BG information with others in a sister app. So Kobe's Libre 3 would communicate with the app on his phone via Bluetooth. His app would send me and Dean the BG info via the sister app on our phones.

Your sitter wouldn't need the app if it was to much for them to manage. Sitter could check BG on the cat phone that stays with Phoebe.

You would still be able to monitor BG remotely. Unless the Libre fell off or malfunctioned.

@Staci & Ivy and @Madeline528 use the Libre regularly. Most of our members just go down to a vacation dose when they travel and no one can test.
Here is a document on the Libre by @tessa's mom but I'm not sure if a lot has changed in subsequent versions of the Libre.

The Libre 3 is smaller and doesn't have to be scanned. You can leave a device home with your cat and that device updates via Bluetooth as long as it's within 30 feet of the cat. You can monitor BG via the sister apps remotely.

Yes, excellent information given here.
The Libre 3 sensor could give you peace of mind and be able to see what is going on while you are away.
Just be aware, sone kitties need to keep the sensor covered (a tee shirt or something so they don’t try to remove it, especially if they’ve never worn one before).
Maybe you’d want to install one in advance to see how Phoebe does wearing one. :bighug:
