Happy Caturday everyone :)

Fistuk is stable for now. He had 1/2 the breakfast portion syringe fed and he keeps it in. Then he went into a sweet sleep next to me on bed. I managed to catch up some sleep myself this morning since at night I was cleaning vomit and reading on Tanya's website :(

It seems that for many cats it starts ok and then it goes side ways with side effects. I wrote to the vet again but we'll see when se responds and what she says since it's the weekend.

I gave him Ondansetron but he's still reluctant to eat - and I totally get that.

His hind legs are very very weak. These vomiting bouts weaken him a lot.

This cat for sure has nine lives but if he keeps being pushed ike that to the corner bc of dosing negligence I don't know what's going to be the end of it.

Wishing everyone a happy Caturday :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Buprenorphine can be constipating, but how many doses did he get? One should have made that much difference.
Hi Wendy.
He was indeed a bit constipated.
He had one syringe of 0.3ml which was more than what he should have gotten if I follow the recommendation in the link that Karen sent - 0.02-0.04 per KG body weight.
Fistuk is 3.5kg which means he should have had 0.06ml not 0.3!

I suspect that the overdose together with taking now 10 day Synulox AB is just messing him up too much.

Oh Shelly I’m sorry Fistuk is struggling. He’s had such a ride this past week or 2.
I’m glad you’ve stabilized him.
I hope you hear back from that vet and she has some helpful thoughts.
Wishing you both a very calm (and boring as always) safe weekend :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I am glad he is feeling more stable. And you both got some cuddle time! I hope he regains some strength back. Poor guy can't avoid to lose any more nutrients -that's great you give him B vitamins and glucosamine I think it's helping Petey.

Have a good day. :bighug::bighug:

Yes, my heart was in a rollercoaster these past two weeks. I can only breathe when he’s stable. im happy he’s back to stability today and paws crossed no more vomiting
Much love to you and Ivy :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thanks, Laurie. The cuddle time was the best :joyful:
He gets both plus B12 methylcobalamin. The vitamins are really helping him. He also gets supplements for his kidneys and I was happy that the last blood values showed that his kidneys are in a very good condition.
Wishing you an inspiring weekend and perhaps a lovely walk with your gorgeous Petey :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm glad Fistuk is stabilizing. I hope the vomiting is gone for good, and that he begins gaining back his strength. Wishing you a restful weekend.

UPDATE:
Fistuk started looking bad again @+10. Contracted.

At supper he wasn't even sniffing the food. I syringe fed him only half the portion so he has something in for the insulin and for the AB. It took 5 minutes and he vomited everything.

What do I do?? I'm wrecking my brains here.
@Wendy&Neko @tiffmaxee @Angela & Cleo

The vet replied to my email with a short line saying - difficult to say... is he eating a little?

What am I supposed to do with such a response!!!!

Can I just stop this AB that I feel causing him problems?

Hi Shelly
I'm sorry you had a rough night. His numbers are looking good today though. Hopefully he eats some more on his own and I also hope you get some well deserved rest this weekend.

Is he taking any probiotics? Even ones for humans might help him. Recent personal experience tells me ABs can play a real number on the good tummy flora. :blackeye:

Well I didn’t give him the AB I

He does..

I did give him the AB yet - do you think it's really bad?

He vomited all supper. He had may 5g of food. He looks like he'll vomit again.

Which probiotic are you giving? Any chance you gave some Cerenia or maropitant on hand? It's good for vomiting and can help with nausea too.

I am sorry he is vomiting again. I hope there was no more blood in it, the vet did not mention this? Are there hospitals or emergency vets in Switzerland?

Flora Complex by Inuvet (German company). He gets that in the morning .
It has:
Enterococcus faecium (Probiotische Bakterienkulturen)
Purpurfarbener Sonnenhut-Extrakt (Echinacea purpurea herba
Inulin (Präbiotikum)

I also gave him now Sivumixx, also German product. It's very good but it has sugar so it'll spike his sugar for a few hours

I gave Ondansetron 4mg, but this evening he vomited right after I gave it so I guess it's out.

I have only 3 tablets of Cerenia, 16mg - is it ok to mix with Ondansteron? Is Ondansetron also good for vomiting?

Are there hospitals or emergency vets in Switzerland?
There are. But I don't have the money for it anymore. The Surgery wiped us out.
Also, he's not doing well at all in hospitals and it often makes hm worst so I try to keep him away as much as possible

Unfortunately the vet has an emergency number that doesn't work with our phones. It's so annoying!! Why would she get an emergency line that many phones can't use it :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Tomorrow morning I could ask my neighbours if I could use their land line. They're elderly people so I won't knock on their door now:bighug:

I am so sorry. He got 5 times the dose he should have gotten. That is very scary. Kobe and I are sending healing vines for his recovery. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Could he possibly be detoxing, maybe his liver is struggling to process the meds? I'm so sorry he's still so sick. Sounds like his digestion may need a break and something really bland. :bighug::bighug:

Yes, you can give ondansetron and Cerenia. They target different nausea receptors. Neko was on that combo for several months. Ondansetron isn't as good for vomiting. Cerenia dose is 2mg/kg every 12 hours if given by mouth.

When you look at dosing for buprenorphine, the liquid concentration is important. Neko (6 kg) dose was 0.22 ml of a 0.3 mg/ml concentration, or 0.066mg. The time my civvie got overdosed, the vet had given me bupe with a 0.5 mg/ml concentration.

YEs, I imagine he does but he can't just keep vomiting. He is now so weak and I'm beginning to be afraid of ketones
I wouldn't know what food to give him - do you have any idea? :bighug:

Is he on the correct dose of the antibiotic? A vet once prescribed twice the dose of Clavamox for Bandit and she vomited for 36 hours after just one dose. Clavamox can make kitties feel really awful - inappettence, nausea, vomiting etc. What is he getting the antibiotic for?

Wondering if you need to give him subq twice a day - if he is dehydrated from all the vomiting, that could also make him feel weak and awful and not want to eat.
