Yesterday

Jones is not well. He vomited and this is the second day in a row that he had diarrhea outside the LB. This is the behaviour he had when he was first diagnosed with pancreatitis and IBD. I the runs have been happening for a couple of weeks now. So I am not sure what triggered it. He has been losing weight since January though and it could of been more than just a broken tooth.

I have put his metronidazole back to his beginning dose as of last night. He is already on a 1/4 tab on cerenia daily so not sure what to do there. He is already on his beginning dose on pred as well. I need Dr. advice if we are upping those. He is already on 1/8tsp of SEB at night. Is it possible to give that during the day as well? Not sure how to fit it in as I am giving the probiotic mid cycle during the day.

I have limited his food to the FF and the RC recovery. Hoping to locate a culprit if it is food related. Not sure on the RC but he really likes it and it starts him eating. He is still eating a good calorie count up till today. Without the Nature's Variety it might be hard to get it up there.

Today is a holiday day here so I will have to wait till tomorrow to put a call into the vet. He is more subdued yesterday and today.

Sending warm summer feel good vines to Jones! I don't know what else to suggest, but wanted to make sure you knew about adding extra water to food to avoid dehydration, S. Boulardii can be useful in treating diarrhea, some have recommended marshmallow root in addition to or in place of SEB. With other meds in the picture, SEB timing is tricky because it can interfere with how they are absorbed. You have been here longer than me so you probably know all of this, but I feel better mentioning them if you are worried and haven't thought of these things.

I don't know what else to suggest. Hope you see some improvement today and can get into the vet tomorrow if needed. :bighug:

He had another goose poop but smaller.

And he has peed outside the litter box.

He is still eating so far though paws crossed that continues till tomorrow.

I will keep the marshmallow root in mind.

I usually give pumpkin to help Radar's gut when he has soft poo problems. I also give SEB slurry. Things usually firm up in the LB after half a day or so.

Here's some :bighug::bighug::bighug: for you and some feel better wishes for Jones.

Sending tons of feel better vines over the Rockies. :bighug::bighug:

RC Recovery produced no problems with Neko. For the last little while, it was one of the few foods she would mostly happily eat on her own. I'd suspect the FF instead. Unless chicken is on the no-no list for Jones. Allergies can change over time, I wouldn't look at his old allergy report.

How big are the Cerenia tabs? Oral version can be given up to 2mg/kg per day.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and ideas. I think I will end up going into work late tomorrow so I can go directly to the vets and pick up more of the RC Recovery as I am now out. He seems to really like it. And isn't it pretty bland type food to get kitties over issues? My vet is not in till Wednesday this week, but hope I can hear back from another vet at the practise.

He continues to drink and we had a nap this afternoon together after DS dragged me out for a two hour walk to clear my head. He is still interested in food. So paws crossed that these two things continue. Still no poop. Tonight is dose 3 of the increased metronidazole and the second SEB "pill" for today.

These numbers on the other hand are a little crazy...wouldn't you think in the midst of an IBD flare they would be higher? @Wendy&Neko- do you happen to know if that happened with Neko?

When Neko got her "IBD" diagnosis, I stopped trying to figure out the "why" of her numbers changing. She was diagnosed with IBD or lymphoma, we could not anesthetize to figure out which. At the same time she had undergone SRT a few months before which was impacting her dose, she got a heart condition diagnosis at the same time as her GI issues and her kidneys were getting worse, which all meant more meds and less predictability. I just dosed as her numbers told me to. Maybe the metro increase is kicking in and helping Jones feel better. Or he's just being a cat. :cat:

It comes in pill form? Am I reading this right? Feel better vines and more solid poopy vines too!

You make the pill. . 1/8tsp of SEB and 1/4tsp of AVJ...mix until it solidifies a bit to a tacky ball. Then take it and pop it in the mouth...I press it up to the roof and let him lick it down. He will not eat it in his food so I do this.

Sending loads of vines for Jones and :bighug:s for you, Tracey. It's a good sign that he is eating.

Have you tried giving a teaspoon of canola or coconut oil to get things moving?

You can give SEB twice a day, but remember it needs to be at least two hours before/after any other meds, as it will hinder absorption.
