7/20 Cosmo - bouncing from yesterday. Blood work back. Dosing question

I agree, let's see what 2.0 is really doing, but he may need to eventually to to 2.25 units.

Bounces give you time for you.

Blood work tests came back - will update my SS with them once they arrive via email.

Electrolytes a bit off - probably because of his prolonged megacolon trouble. His spasms have mostly disappeared as of yesterday. Responding to the amino bplex well.

Fructosamine very high.

Liver enzymes slightly elevated. No infection signs on blood work. Kidneys look fine.

Dosing Question - Vet feels that we should go back up to 2.5 and monitor closely so that Cosmo will learn to regulate on that dose to get BG down more consistently. We can do that. DH is home. Thoughts? I know it was suggested on here that we go back down to 2.0.

Can you get a before bed test (at least +2 if not later) every night? If not, too dangerous to go up. Cat's don't "learn to regulate" on a dose if it's taking them down low then causing bounces to take them high. And with higher carb and dry food still in the picture, you won't want to be on a dose that takes him into the 70's. I could be persuaded on 2.25 if night time tests can happen.

Now that all the other factors are better and he is gaining some strength, we want to focus on lowering his BG, so he can continue to heal.

DH set the alarm for a +4 last night and we are OK with staying up for a +2 (11pm).

Awesome on getting +2's. If they are quite a bit lower than PMPS, you might need a later test.

Good to hear Cosmo is gaining some strength back. :)

Yes! We are happy to see him getting stronger too!

Did a +4 on PM cycle and noticed at +7 that Cosmo had eaten all the food (like 4 meals) left out for both kitties. He does this almost every night. He is a nighttime eater, daytime sleeper
