8/11 Butters AMPS 355/+4 409/PMPS 302/+4 257/+6 126/+7 216/

Excellent! I'm so glad you're able to get that consistent dose! And now you can easily measure that funny .75 increment rather than having to 'eyeball' the difference between the lines...

Can't wait to see when Butters gets those lovely blue/green numbers!

Have a great day!

Are her numbers really this much higher because of my switch to calipers? I know, I saw how "off" my syringes were, almost by 0.5u in some cases. :(

She hasn't had a day with a number in the 400s in over a month and this is just hard to watch. I finally felt like some progress was being made and now we are moving back again. Hoping the increase kicks in very very soon.

"Patience pants"...still looking for those. :)

Chris and China found me patience pants in the beginning. Here ya go

Her #s are likely the result of the different dose. It'll be ok. After 3 days/6 cycles you can increase again if you're not seeing good results.

Butters wants to be stubborn today.

Love the patience pants. I will treasure them and hopefully pass them on someday.
Plus side, actual sleep tonight! And a poke break for Butters. :)

Good luck! I am new here, so I haven't heard about the calipers. Is this a way to get a more precise dose, and where can I get some? I think I definitely need them as I can barely see those lines even with a bright light and my glasses! Thanks in advance!

Hey Kyle, Welcome! Yes it is a way to get a more precise dose. The problem with syringes is that the placement of the markings on them are inconsistent from barrel to barrel. That's allowable and doesn't make a difference when dosing human diabetics. But for smaller doses for kitties, it can make a huge difference. So instead of measuring your doses to the 1 Unit line, you measure the dose according to distance, in millimetres, based on your syringe type and barrel size.

Best thing to do: Watch the "how-to" on dosing with calipers. Marje and Gracie did a step-by-step video on how to use them. She uses a lightbox and a magnifying glass. I have been using an eye loup and a bright lamp. I may buy a cheap lightboard. But, my eyes aren't the greatest and I'm doing it. You will be able to, also!

Here is the link to the digital calipers that most members in the U.S.A. seem to buy/use: Harbor Freight.

You can also look back in my threads for the past couple of days as I asked A LOT of questions the first time I dosed with them.

It is a learning curve for sure, but totally worth it! I have peace of mind knowing Butters is getting the same amount of insulin every time. So great you are going to tackle this up front. I wish I had.

Thank you so much for this info! I am really looking forward to having more confidence in my dosing ! Trying to eyeball those tiny lines seems crazy!!
