Oberon's doing fine; our power, not so much. Estimated time to power restoration is now Sunday afternoon. We have access to an empty condo across town and we're transferring freezer and fridge stuff there now, but need to keep the Lantus here. I know it's supposedly ok at room temperature, but keeps longer in the fridge. Should I try to keep it on ice here, or not worry about it?

Keep on ice in fridge for insulation. Just don't let it be in direct contact with ice. If you have insulated lunch box use that.

If power outage is frequent in your area you might want to consider this. I used one when staying in motel for a week. Wonderful alternative.

Thank you! The fridge stayed nice and cold overnight, and we finally got some ice this afternoon, so I think we're ok for now. I'll start longterm planning, too. (Every power outage ever: "This time I'm really going to get a generator!")
