? 8/9 - GIDEON BLUE -PMPS = 238. Decreased to 1.5 units. At +6 BG = 537!

My Gideon was a bit lower than what he has been in the morning....he is bouncing around. I fed his m=normal food, and he was pretty animated this morning. Since I am concerned with him plummeting, I tested again at 1+ and he was 127, which is strange that the food did not bring him up. So, I just gave him 1 tablespoon of some 13% carb food to try to prevent a sharp decrease in his BG with the Lantus 1.75 units that he received this morning. I will retest at +2. My husband will retest at +3 and +4, just to be safe.
Thank you all.

This is going to be an active cycle. I’m glad he’s testing and will feed him if necessary.

Thank you. Gideon had cancer, and the only way to for sure know we were able to get it all, was to amputate his left front leg. He is doing well as a tripod.

Just took his +2 BG and he is down to 108. I opened 20% carb food, but he isn't interested in eating. He is alert. I am very concerned at this point. We stayed home from church, so thankfully can monitor. I should be in bed soon, I am working tonight. I am very concerned at the moment. He will continue to decrease if he doesn't eat.

He had a good breakfast. He is not interested in even eating his treats.
I have some AD which is 12 % carbs. Should I add a small amount of Karo and syringe it to him?
I am VERY concerned at +2 he is only 108.

He doesn’t need karo or high carb food at the moment as he is quite safe. I understand what you are saying about being concerned he is dropping. I would get a +3 or if you are really concerned a + 2.5 to see if he’s still dropping .......oh I see you just got a +2.5 and he’s much the same as +2.

OK. Not going to bed. Will retest at +3. I know he is safe at the moment, but the Lantus probably hasn't even kicked in yet. He still is not interested in eating, which is highly unusual.

Yes. I took the +2.5 (107) away to make room for the +3. Will retest at +3.5. He just nibbled on a 13% carb food. Ate 1 tsp.
I would stick with low carb unless he drops under 50 ( edited to correct this... should read unless drops under 68 as using alphatrak meter) or drops quickly. I have to head to bed but hopefully Elise can check on how things are going.

Thinking about what to do for Lantus tonight. I know we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

One thing to factor in is that there is a 20% meter variance with the numbers. If you add/subtract the 20% from. your APS, what. you're really seeing is numbers that are pretty close together. This is a lovely blue surf. My general rule of thumb is to start to steer the numbers with LC food if the numbers are in the lower ranges but the curve is flat. If the numbers start to dip significantly by +2, you want to intervene with higher carb food. You can look at Gabby's SS to see what I mean.

Test 20 minutes after karo. Keep trying to entice him to eat. Do you have any Gerbers baby food?

She’s using an AT.

Lurking but one eye still closed.

The longer he stays in green and low blue numbers, the sooner his body will get used to them. Looking at his spreadsheet, he's been quite the bouncer.

Going downstairs to make a cuppa.

Yes. He dropped to 60 on the AT which is why she was concerned when he wouldn’t eat and it’s early in the cycle. He’s eating now.
You need to update your subject. They think he’s blue rather than lime green.

Just to summarise:
He hit hit a BG of 60 at +3.5. It was a drop of 40 in 30 mins, which is a significant change. Offered higher carb food, but no interest.
Put a small amt of Karo on his gums. He then ate a small amt of deli ham. I have opened 5 diff foods.
His +4 BG=86. Should I retest at 5+?

Yes because karo can stop working quickly. If he’s still up you can sleep. Know you will be up all night. Now that you have calmed down please fix your ss and subject.

I apologize if I added to any confusion. When I looked at your spreadsheet, all I saw were your numbers up to +3. There were no additional tests.

As an FYI, you can stack numbers in a cell. (Look at Gabby's spreadsheet.) You will need to manually include the color coding, though.)

At +5=78. He is also eating a tablespoon of MC 12% food. Will snooze for 1 hr and retest at +6. Thank you so much for guiding us.
