Yesterday

All the usuals...happy appy, snuggly, spunky, and anti-jinxes. I bought a new case/batch of Fancy Feast yesterday that Trix gives two paws up...at least so far! I've become crazy about reading dates on the bottoms of the cans...I know she hates "this batch" but loves "this batch". Crazy helicopter MamaBean probably reading too much into her eating habits !

Today we see my Dad's local oncologist. I'm not sure if he'll start the new chemo this week - I doubt insurance approvals are in place. He's still so fatigued, though, that I wonder if it's residual side-effects from the last protocol or if it's something like dehydration (he does have a lot of symptoms of chronic dehydration). It is worrisome...I didn't sleep very well last night.

I would never dare to buy a whole case of something. If we have the same thing too often (= two or three days in a row) my lot will refuse to eat it for weeks. I currently have 15 different brands/varieties on rotation.
I don't know about helicopter, but I've definitely got the crazy part down.

I don't think they do SubQs for humans, but I honestly don't know that for sure. DH suggested I go over last night with Trix's bag and do it myself !

They didn't do treatment or fluids today. Treatment mainly because the pre-cert has to go through and because my Dad's numbers have stabilized so the doc didn't think there was a rush to do it today. Fluids because my Dad didn't feel like it and it didn't seem completely urgent; however, they MAY do fluids next week if his fatigue and other symptoms haven't resolved. His BW doesn't indicate dehydration, but some of his physical symptoms sort of do...

Your being a helicopter mom is most likely the reason Trixie is OTJ and doing as well as she is, so don't change a thing!!!! Our kind needs to stick together - someone's got to be there to help if a rotor flies off!

I tell ya, if my Dad started drinking ANYTHING, it would be a miracle. I have never seen anyone as opposed to consuming fluids as he is. He actually HATES water....it doesn't taste like anything!! I did briefly get him to drink Pedialyte last spring after his stint in the hospital, but once he recovered, he never looked back. It's just bizarre.

yes. they give fluids to humans.... by i.v. ..... think of all the folks in the hospital.... plugged in....

More vines for your DF. Have you ever tried Mio! water additives? I use the Black Cherry / Energy drops when I am doing a long drive. It tastes good and I find that I drink more. There are several different flavors w/ different supplements.
