? Alphatrak 2 vs 3 readings

Ive been reading sort of mixed reviews about the alphatrak 3 readings being massively different from the alphatrak2, this morning i tried the 3 for the first time and it was fine, but my Alphatrak2 reading was 19.1 (342ish) and my alphatrak3 reading was 16.1 (290) (same drop of blood for both), what I wanted to know, is this a big difference? Should I be worried about testing with the 3 now? I know its suppose to be more accurate.

I only had 1 alphatrak2 strip left and I dont plan on buying anymore...

I was thinking of putting on a libre sensor to compare with the Alphatrak3, but the libre sensor was fairly accurate compared to my Alphatrak2.

I just want to know peoples thoughts!

Most people here use human meters to test their cat's blood, but hopefully some of the people using the AT will respond with what they've seen. I've only used a human meter.

Have you used control solution on both meters?

Manufacturers are allowed to have a certain variability in numbers from meters, depending on what is allowed in the particular country people are from. For example, in the US it's 20%. The difference between the 16.1 and 19.1 is 15% variance from the 19.1 reading. And both numbers say the blood sugar is too high. The numbers will be much closer in lower numbers, where it counts.

This post lists some people's experiences, which seem to be that the AT3 reads lower than the AT2. Note, you can't buy AT2 strips anymore, so you can't buy anymore anyway.

I typically use a Relion human meter but had the Alpha Trak 2 and bought the Alpha Trak 3 recently when I ran out of AT2 strips and couldn't order more.

I hate the AT3. The app is super glitchy, and I think it requires more blood than the old one even though it's not supposed to. I had a lot of problems using it, but did eventually get used to it, after wasting a billion strips.

As far as readings go, mine actually seemed to match up with the AT2 fairly well. However, I've read many complaints from people saying their AT3 readings were off. If you look at reviews on Chewy or Reddit, I think you'll find you're not alone.

Now I use my Relion and only use my AT3 when taking readings for my vet. I think the Relion is easier to use than the AT3 and the readings are more consistent. Hope this helps
