I bet tge highs are due to the medication. Is it helping the uri? The eating and peeing of course are due to the high bg.

Yes, it is helping. He is less congested and not sneezing like he was.

I went ahead and tested again because I'll be gone for awhile. He's at 414 +4 so down a bit.
I'll be back later. Going to watch my tennis team play our first fall season match today. I still am unable
to play after knee surgery. :(

I'm back. It was nice to be out but hot. I tested when I got home and not much change. 404 +8

Hope everyone did something fun today. Wish Covid would go away! :arghh:

I wish it would too, Patty. Infection rates getting much worse over here - doubling every 7 days. From midnight tonight it becomes illegal in England for more than 6 people to gather together, either indoors or outside (exceptions for schools and businesses), and the test-trace-isolate programme is a complete clustershambles. Some people are being asked to drive hundreds of miles for a covid test! That's what you get when you outsource a vital public health activity to management consultants and contract call centres. The whole thing's been mishandled from start to finish.<sigh>

I didn't realize it was still that bad over there. I didn't think it was as mismanaged as our response. Half the people over here think it's a hoax and won't wear a mask. We do have testing sites but they no longer encourage getting tested because it shows more cases! Craziness... Hate you are in bad shape there too. Now Dr. Fauci is saying we'll be in this through 2021. Nooooooo
I'm about to test Blue again and give him a shot. I know you're probably long asleep so talk tomorrow.

I find it interesting that even though his BG is higher than it needs to be, it's held around the same area again. I'm not sure if that means anything, but previously he was high and then too low.
I'll test again later before I go to sleep.

How long has he had the URI? Any infections can cause an increase in bg, so hopefully it will go back down soon.

He's been on meds for 4 days now. Blue had URI recently and it came back. He's never had a strong immune system. My others always get over them on their own but not Blue. He always has to see the vet. To answer your question, it came on suddenly and it was only 2 days before he saw the vet and I started giving him antibiotics and antiviral medicine.

So the URI started 9/6 or 9/7?

Yes. I took him to the vet 9/9 and he started on meds the next morning.

You may want to continue tracking his URIs on your spreadsheet so you can see if there's any pattern with his bg levels from the URIs.

(edit; just saw your note in the spreadsheet about taking him to the vet for URI)

I put it down on the wrong day and just changed it. Once we started talking I realized I've done a bad job keeping up with the notes. All this medicine is hard to keep up with. Blue's sister is on medicine as well.
Thanks, I will do a better job keeping track. It will be interesting to see how it fluctuates. :cat:

It can be really hard managing multiple cats with medical issues at the same time. Personally I am amazed with the level of care all of you on here are giving your cats. They're really lucky to have you
