Good Morning L B & L ~

Since my last post, Bubba had two small reductions due to all greens for 1 week. The first one was down to .90 unit and then last night a reducie to .75. I am going to take him down very slowly again like last time. Fingers crossed.......

Vines to all Beans and Kitties in need.

OT: Forrest had several episodes of vomiting last week right after he ate. He will do that when he gets backed up again so I am hoping I can keep him moving. I am trying SEB balls each day rather than adding it to his food to see if that can help his intestinal tract better.

ETA: At what fraction of a unit is it considered a micro dose, .25 of a unit?

In what context are you asking the question? Not sure there is an exact definition. Some vets probably consider anything under one unit a micro dose. To some of us with high dose condition cats, probably anything under 5 units. :p But 0.25 units is probably good for most here.

Go Bubba! :D Anti vomit vines for Forrest. Have his thyroid numbers been checked lately? That out of whack can cause vomiting.

The context for the question is for when to start giving Bubba the +8 - +9 PM feeding. ( anti jinx

As of now, we are no later than PM +7 and that is working out well for his AMPS number.

Forrest, yes, he had a full panel including thyroid in November. His issue seems to be the renal cyst that fills with lots of fluid filling up his abdominal area and chronic constipation.

Thanks Wendy! :bighug:

SEB balls sound delicious! Glad they work for Forrest.

I always thought that anything below 0.25U was considered microdosing. But, as Wendy says, it can vary with the context.

Lookin' good, Deputy Bubba!

Thanks for the input. I could not remember when we suggest giving a + 9 PM meal to help the AMPS numbers. I hope I didn't jinx Bubba. Did I ever mention that my paternal grand mother's nickname was Jinx?

give SEB separately to insure it gets a good coating
@Beth 73, @Bobbie And Bubba Nelli has a collapsing trachea and SEB is our best shot at helping her eat without chomp, chomping using two jaws, paw at mouth... gag. I have been making a syrup
1/4 tsp of Slippery Elm Bark ( SEB) mixed with 1/2 tsp of George's Aloe Vera Juice. Mix the two together. It makes a little ball. I take 1/2 of the ball and place it on the roof of the mouth. Let him swallow that. Then give the second 1/2. It coats the digestive tract. Helps with constipation and /or diarrhea.
Thanks...
I have 400mg capsules I undo, dump in about 1/4c water heat almost to a boil.
Do you have any idea how many milligrams you are using?

I get my SEB loose from www.starwest-botanicals.com It is Item # 209578-51 organic SEB Powder Organic.

@Krystina & Nelli , until you get the loose SEB, take a capsule and measure 1/4 tsp of SEB. Add 1/2 tsp of George's Aloe Vera Juice (if you don't have the George AVJ then do water) . Mix it up in a very small container. It will make a ball. Give 1/2 of the ball to her by putting in on the roof of her mouth. Let her swallow that and regroup. Then, give the other 1/2 of the ball on the roof of her mouth. Forrest usually goes to the water bowl and drinks in between balls., (but then he is a BIG water drinker.)

I hope this helps her!

Krystina, I have to use yet another method because Elmo is a pick:banghead: .... I dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of loose SEB in 1 1/2 teaspoon of water or aloe Vera juice and then syringe it down him while still on the liquid side . Any thicker and super senior Elmo gags and looks pitiful. I give it twice a day .

Thanks Beth :)
@Bobbie And Bubba, Nelli has been suffering, with what I thought was acid reflux for the past 6 months or so. Most recently, all of a sudden I remembered - it occurred to me that the vet from h*** who brought on Nelli's heart disease and diabetes (by against my instructions) gave her a steroid shot... had taken a radiograph of her lungs, etc which is when she was diagnosed with mild asthma. This radiograph showed, the Vet said, that her trachea was collapsing :(.

Thanks Beth :)

What causes the trachea to collapse?

Age :-\ .
The satanist vet said.
I researched collapse trachea is in felines. Rare in feline:confused:, more common in canine.
Does not have a good ending :(, only medical treatment for it is surgery which of course I wouldn't even think of, period end of sentence. In researching natural remedies that may help I stumbled on to SEB. In there lies our best shot at helping my little buddy be able to swallow her food ok :)

Hey Bubba! You are looking great, kid!! Keep it up!

Dear Forest, let's get a move-on groove on!

I've been outa touch, Bobbie...and now afraid to ask :nailbiting: about you mum. How's things?

@Krystina & Nelli I'm going to PM you about Nelli's condition.

XOXO + :bighug: to all!
