So, I emailed Wellness to see what they said the percentage of phosphorus was in Chicken and Herring. Got an email from them today. Weird because they say that it is .37%, while another site I looked at states it is 1.48% and yet another is .91% - I don't know what to believe now. :( Maybe it's based on different helpings? I will email them back and ask for clarification. Even though Shadow is on the low end with his phosphorus levels (1.5) I don't want to throw it off by high phosphorus food as the vet said this could cause an obstruction. :-0

This is what they wrote:
Canned Cat Foods

Chicken 0.31% Phosphorus

Chicken & Herring 0.37% Phosphorus

Beef & Chicken 0.28% Phosphorus

Turkey 0.28% Phosphorus

Turkey & Salmon 0.35% Phosphorus

Sardine, Shrimp & Crab 0.31% Phosphorus

Salmon & Trout 0.33% Phosphorus

Chicken & Lobster 0.33% Phosphorus

Beef & Salmon 0.26% Phosphorus

Kitten 0.34% Phosphorus

Core Canned Cat Foods

Chicken, Turkey, & Chicken Liver 0.30% Phosphorus

Salmon, Whitefish, & Herring 0.33% Phosphorus

Have you used Janet's charts? For people who need to limit phosphorous, they aim for under 200 (can't remember the measurement)

Well, I will check it out but Shadow doesn't necessarily need low phosphorus but I was nervous after a few posts commented on me feeding alot of Chicken and Herring due to high phosphorus, etc.... so I've been trying to see what canned food isn't high (and now I don't even know what the chicken and herring is really with phosphorus with all the different amounts I've found) :)

Yup, worrying about lots of things :) but that is pretty normal when first researching how to treat this disease. Try not to make it so difficult, stick with some basics like under 10% of calories from carbs, muscle meat (listed as 'chicken' or 'beef' on lists) trumps bi-products, no grains, not too much fish, etc.
