I have seen where a few members on here feed their kitty a snack a few hours before their PMPS. Can anyone share a link or explain why and when that is appropriate to do.

I'm wondering if I may need to start feeding Kai a snack between +8 and +11 before his PMPS? I think his insulin is lasting too long on his first cycle and running into his 2nd cycle, but I don't have enough testing data between +8 and +10 to really back that up

Could his current dose be too much or does he just needs a little boost before his PMPS to catch those rapid drops in cycle 2. Is that even a thing? I'm trying to figure out how to stop all these bounces. Could someone take a look at his sheet and let me know what i'm doing wrong?

I gave Neko a +9 snack, but her circumstances were completely different. First, when she was on Lantus her nadir was from +7-+9 and when on Levemir typically between +9 and +12. You don't want to feed carbs after nadir, or you could shorten duration and have their numbers zoom up for the next preshot. The other thing with Neko was her acromegaly. Her pancreas was at least partially working, just overwhelmed by the IGF-1 from the excess growth hormone output by the pituitary tumour. A snack late in the cycle sometimes helped her numbers.

I like Angela's comment on the fluids. Have you tried giving them later in the cycle after nadir? If they are lowering his numbers, sometimes happens with fluids, best to give when his numbers are naturally going up. That's what I did for Neko.

Thanks Angela and Wendy. Maybe the Sub Q fluids are influencing these fast pm drop which then leads to his bounce breaking cycle during the day. Then during the day when he is breaking that bounce the downward action flows into his nighttime cycle and is also causing him to drop much quicker than he should, then I administer his fluids and that probably adds to the drop, which then leads to another bounce the next day. Rinse and repeat...Gosh this sounds like a never-ending circle.

I will test out moving his fluid administration time to after his nadir when he is naturally on the rise.
