    I have heard of two brothers getting acromegaly. But I have also read that there is possibly some genetic component too, possibly making some more succeptable than others.     The PDBE's referred to in this article are similarly thought to be a possibly cause for hyperthyroidism, another disease caused by a tumour (often benign) that has been diagnosed with increased frequency lately. NY Times article here.
