Hey so my well regulated diabetic cat got into a fight with my others and had a small scratch at the outer corner of his eyelid which irritated him to the point his third eyelid membrane started to swell when he wouldnt stop pawing at his face. Took him to my usual vet hospital I like but with everything going on I was at their mercy and used a different vet.
Because of the state of emergency it was a bit informal and had to wait in the car. I discussed with the vet on the phone and we acknowledged the diabetes and he gave him a Convenia shot and told me to put one drop of this Neomycyn in twice a day he knew he was giving me something with a steroid because the point was something to ease his discomfort and swelling so he stops messing with it. Totally slipped my mind until this evening after I gave him one drop about not giving diabetic cats steroids and now I'm more paranoid and vet has closed and will not be open the rest of the weekend. His eye looked a little better after today and I was mostly worried about infection or ulcer. Will a topical steroid really be a bad idea like could it mess up all our regulation process permanently? I'm on the fence about seeing if it will heal on its own now or if I should just watch his BG and continue to give it and second guessing the vet. Anyone have any experience with this they are willing to give?
