    Good Morning!!
Jade is doing well in then remission arena! Yaaa!! But... she does have Alopecia. Never really figured out the source as it took a back seat to the diabetes diagnosis. She’s had bald belly spots for quite awhile and lately has developed a rash on them.
She grooms a lot. And I’m thinking the rash is from that. When I scratch her belly, it doesn’t seem to hurt her at all.
Per advice on this wonderful forum, I ordered generic Zyrtec and started her on 2.5 mg yesterday. I know relief doesn’t happen overnight, but any other recommendations? I put some Halo Healing salve on her spots as well. Good idea? Thanks for any advice you can lend. I REALLY don’t want to take her to the Vet!! 990990D4-59D7-46A2-A7B8-210A4D3947A4.jpeg

Have you tried an onesie? I have seen people put onesies on their cats to prevent overgrooming. @Bellasmom may have ideas for you because Bella overgrooms one of the civvies.

Some people have said Slippery Elm paste works to heal the skin (and it's good for them even if they lick it)

Research shows that mixing slippery elm powder into a paste and applying it toskin can relieve dryness and irritation. It's also used to soothe eczema, skinabscesses, and ulcers. Look for rash, hives, or irritation if you're applying it topically. ... Rash.

OMG @Mandy & Rex ..that made me spit my coffee out with a laugh! It is a great idea! The thought of her in a onesie and trying to get her into one made me LOL! But, where there's a will, there's a way! Thank you!

Ok. I think I’ll try this and I’m going to try the slippery elm paste as well and see if either help.
Also, I’m going to hold off on the Zyrtec . I gave one today, but after today I’ll try the natural stuff.

I started to say med honey but I didnt know if the sugar in honey would affect a diabetic or remissions cat if they licked it
Med honey is awesome for open wounds, just not sure about the above, my cats would lick it lol I tried neosporin but bella licked it too lol

I used neosporin when I was testing so often, then read some warning on this forum and decided to try something natural even tho neither cat had any bad reaction to it ( thankfully).

Geez....did not think about the kitty licking! :banghead: Definitely using a onesie might help. Or worse case can use a soft elizabethan collar.

@Ronnon FYI if you are using the Bee Propolis!
