New Foster kitty

This group helped Ben and I through his journey with diabetes. He lost his battle with liver cancer 7/11/2024.
I have taken in a 3 year old female calico foster kitty named Cynthia. Cynthia had become homeless. Of course she is very stressed. She has been eating dry Meow Mix. She has blood in her urine I am suspecting to be FIC. It is common with young female cats on a dry diet that become stressed. Vet appointment May 1st.
First, I am going to try to transition her to wet food. She won't touch the Werovia I have put out for her. I will try Fancy Feast. I am refering to the directions on the homepage. This is a tough one. Kitties can not go without eating.
Thanks for all the guidance provided.

Thank you for taking in a foster. Maybe some tips in here to help:
Do you have Feliways going in her area? I adopted a semi feral kitty that had been in the shelter for 7 years, with time outs for failed adoptions. He too was stressed and got idiopathic cystitis. I started with what food he was used to, and slowly transitioned to low carb.

Thank you! Cynthia has the run if my apartment. She has excellent box habits. It was a big surprise when I was asked if I could foster her for my relative. At first she clawed me when I got close. Now she just bats at me without claws.
I have a balcony with bird feeder she loves to watch. And, lots of kitty toys like Da Bird and undercover mouse. I just leave her be to do what a kitty will do. I have not spotted blood in the box last night and today. She seems to be settling in. I became educated about blood in a kitty's urine with Ben. Food issues are a priority.
I am glad to have access to so many wise cat people! :cat::bighug:

I don't have Felaway plug ins, but I do have the spray. In my lease it states no plug ins.
I can gave 1 emotional support animal with no pet deposit, no monthly fee :cat:

If you can't use a plug in, how about spraying the Feliway on several pieces of cloth, cotton balls, paper towels, etc. (you get the idea) and placing them strategically around places where your adorable kitty hangs out? If she's spooked by all of the changes, it may be having an effect on her appetite.
