? Official Protocol for OTJ Trials or Remission?

Hello all! Happy Monday!
So I've been trying to do some research: reviewing different forums, scouring FAQs, reading other members' remission stories, etc. I've been having some trouble finding an "official" protocol for attempting an OTJ trial. Obviously I know everyone's story is different, but I've heard some talk about tight regulation protocols, microdosing, and OTJ trials. Is there something somewhere that I can review (and bookmark)?

If you look at Lou's spreadsheet, he's been flirting off and on with numbers within the normal range, but has some "spikes" in the 160s-180s on occasion. I've been trying to do some microdosing to keep him within a normal range (50-120) as much as possible. He seems to struggle hitting those lower numbers (even when I give him insulin, he doesn't go as low as you'd think he could/should). Overall, health-wise, he is happy and healthy (even his coat is looking better than ever).

While I'm perfectly fine continuing this course for as long as he needs, what should I be looking for as signs that I could attempt an OTJ trial? I'm just excited and want to be prepared for the next phase of Loudogg's FD story. :cat:

Thanks in advance!

Great news Amanda!
Looks like he's wanting to start that trial today :D:woot::cool:. You might need to try the 0.25U or drop dose to see if he wants to hang a little lower. Obviously, only try this when you'll be around to monitor him :). I don't think there's an actual document for how to do them as ECID

Wow! Looks like Lou is on a mission. You've missed 2 shots already and BG has been within normal range. All you can do now is just take things one day at a time. Take BG in normal fashion (sans food for 2 hours prior to test) at pre-shot time AM and PM. If he stays within normal range getting no shots for a period of 14 consecutive days then you can declare Lou in remission. If you get the odd reading slightly above normal, don't worry. Just keep an eye on him and if it continues, he may need some micro doses (0.1u to 0.25u) when you can monitor him closely to get him over that last hurtle. He's looking great and we are crossing all fingers and paws here that Lou's BG stays in normal range! :D

Well, apparently Loudogg really is doing everything on his own schedule. He kept seeming so close (staying in the 100s), but he needed a wee bit of help here and there staying within normal range throughout the day. Yesterday wasn't his first ever day with no insulin, but it's been a couple weeks. Shockingly and very awesomely, today's numbers were fantastic as well, with his PMPS number at his lowest preshot level yet! So for the first time ever, we have reached day 2 with no insulin!!! :woot: I was looking for an "official" OTJ protocol thinking we would just need to reach a point where we try no insulin, but I never thought Lou would jump in and kickstart his own trial. Makes things soo much easier, haha!!

Thank you so much everyone! I am far beyond excited at Lou's numbers. He's been incredibly steady, so I'm not sure if extra testing (beyond the AMPS and PMPS numbers) is really needed at this point. I've been leaving him be more and more as the OTJ trial goes on. :joyful:

I only tested preshots most of the time when I didn't give insulin during the OTJ trial.
