Hi All,

I have a question about using a caliper device. I give my kitty 3.5 U Lantus BID, using Relion syringes. When aligning the caliper, it says 3.5 units is actually what appears on the syringe as under 3 U. Could it really be that inaccurate?

If so, I guess I should calibrate the utensil to measure what I'm doing now and ensure the following syringes measure that, right? TIA

Are all the syringes measuring that way? Can you check with some of your used ones? If they all are then you want to use that as your current dose . So you would start with the calipers at 4.62. I bet you will find the syringes vary, some by a lot and some by a little. That’s exactly why I started using them to be consistent.

Can you post an image of the needle end of the syringe that clearly shows the the "zero" mark and how that compares with the needle end of the plunger w/the plunger fully depressed. The problem with syringes is that the zero mark is not infrequently offset from the position of the needle end of the plunger when the plunger is fully depressed.
