Hello - I have not been on the forum for a while, as my cat was very sick. He was diagnosed end of April with Diabetes, and he had a diet change to see if we could get it under control w/o insulin. This did not work. He was put on 2 units of Lantus. It was not helping. Within two weeks he got sicker. Not sure if it was something brewing, but once he was on Purina DM wet food (he was a dry food cat) he did not do well and developed pancreatitis, Irritable Bowel, and some liver issue. It is called Triaditis. He spent a night in the ER and was up and down for weeks. Treatment for this is typically steroids, which is not good for diabetes. During that time I did a lot of research on his ailments and the below has helped immensely. I am sharing as someone might be experiencing the same thing.

I give my boy 1/4 can of fancy feast pate (not gravy) every morning with the following supplements:
Omega 3 (I get the Nordic Naturals and squirt on top of wet food, and the picky boy LOVES it)
Proviable probiotics (I break open the capsule and sprinkle on wet food w/ omega3)
Herbsmith Milk Thistle (also sprinkled on fancy feast)
Fera probiotcs (sometimes I add a little on top for extra probiotic and/or Purina fortiflora)

The above is to help with the Triaditis. He licks his bowl clean. The game changer has been his food. He will eat a tiny bit of wet, but he is a dry food grazer, which is horrible for a diabetic. I found the perfect food to help with diabetes, as well as IBD. It is by Young Again, and it is their Zero-Carb, LID formula. It is dry kibble, hydrolyzed protein (good for IBD) with ZERO carbs. The LID formula is also low ash for kidney, which is also early stage for him. The company is professional and they answer all questions. I did research on them, and they have been in business since 1990s, are based in MN, and have no recalls. My guy loves it and he has improved daily since being on it, which is going on his third week. His BG has dropped from high 300s/400s to high 200s. They advocate testing daily before each shot, as BG drops dramatically on this food and the vast amount of cats reportedly go into remission.

Testing BG was really stressful for us and my cat. The vet really never demonstrated properly how to do it, and it was awful. I found a really great tool that makes it so much easier and my cat seems not to feel anything and is not stressed. It really took a lot of the panic and feelings of guilt/stress out of it for us to test safely and easily. It is with using a lancet (one that actually works!) It is called Droplet Genteel Lancing Device. I got the one for humans, and it works perfectly since day one. It is much cheaper than the one for pets.

I hope something I wrote helps someone and makes their baby less stressed/uncomfortable.
We are in a better place and fingers crossed, it gets better. Thank you everyone on this forum for being so generous and knowledgeable.
