5/3 condo

Good Morning, L&LL,

When I got back from climbing Hopkins Mountain (in the High Peaks) yesterday I was pretty tired, so never did get to opening a condo for Rusty. He and Edward had a good day together, and it didn't rain! This morning Rusty is starting out green--not his usual pattern. His shot last night may have been too much (it is really hard to measure a skinny 1/4 unit on the Monoject syringe, and the amount of insulin is further complicated by the "cone", in which some of the insulin "hides"). We'll see what happens today.

We had 10 people on our climb, but lost one about a mile into the climb. She had violated a cardinal rule of hiking with a group and had turned around and left the group without telling anyone. She was new, so probably didn't know that people would worry about her. The leader had to go back to look for her and I volunteered to go back with her. We assumed she had simply gone home, but it was not an easy trail to follow at this time of year (very little vegetation on the trail) and we feared that she might have veered off into the brush and not been able to find the trail again, or fallen while crossing the streams. Luckily (for her), she simply went home (her car was gone from the parking area). But the leader and I logged 3 extra miles on a challenging climb. We finally made it to the summit and were rewarded by fabulous views of the surrounding peaks.

It's chilly and raining today and is expected to be like this all weekend.

Wishing all a good day,

Love the photo! With the rain there looks like you choose a perfect day to hike. Makes me want to get outdoors...
Nice green start for the day Rusty:D

hope he surfs safely today.
Hi Carla, The LagoonMeister headed for the deep end! He got a drop of Karo in his lunch, but only ate the section where the Karo wasn't! (the Wellness Chicken half of the bowl had the Karo mixed in; Rusty ate the FF T&G half!). We'll be testing again soon. I can't remember the last time I added Karo syrup to his food!

Yo, LagoonMeister! China's been keeping a pretty good eye on the shark nets lately. No need for you to trouble yourself with an up close inspection. Why don't you head back for the shallows and relax a little?

What a beautiful view, Ella. I guess it was worth all that work to get up there? Too bad on the extra miles you and the leader had to put in. I'm guessing that member won't be joining you all again without a tutorial on proper group hiking etiquette! It was very thoughtless of her to just leave like that. I'm glad she didn't suffer any consequences from her actions.

Good guess on the extra juice from the syringe. Rusty dude - so not necessary!

Your hike sounds beautiful, though tiring. I wish I could sent you some of the Arizona sun. It's a little extra work biking and hiking well above sea level here. Back home to rain soon. I had a great visit with Marje, Liz, Karen, Tobey and Liv. Your second best boy sends his love. Neko's locket got to head bump Doodles locket and Gracie's box.

Sounds like a great visit, and bicycling, too. Neat on the lockets and box. Tobey is actually my "other best boy" because he so wanted to be my "best boy" and I told him he was my other best boy.
Enjoy your rain. We have had rain for most of the last week and are tired of it. Yesterday was a welcome change.
