Furball was happy & purry this morning. I hope she heads down today so I can see what she's doing on this dose.

Simba's mouth is really bothering her and I saw a little bit of blood yesterday. The vet said as the cancer got worse, it might bleed. She won't let me get a good look and I don't want to hurt her by trying to force her mouth open. I'm afraid by the time they get to anything that might help her in the Pet Cancer docu-series, it will be too late to help her. Thanks everyone for your prayers and good wishes. It really helps.

The Ketosis section made me a little confused, but it was there that they were discussing if you could have a carb/sugar free diet and did not over feed...that the body would stop using glucose as an energy (which cancer does use as a fuel) and start using keytones. Cancer can't use ketones for energy and would eventually starve. But I really didn't get how do you accomplish that and how long does that take, and I thought keytones were bad. I wanted to go back but didn't have time today.

I was confused by this too. I went back and watched it again, but it didn't really give you details on how to change the diet to accomplish this. I also always thought ketones were bad.

Nice movement down to the beach for Furball :cool:. I hesitate to suggest this because it was soooo long ago, but I seem to remember trying to use the slippery elm bark to try and coat my late stage CRF kitty's mouth to help with the mouth ulcers. This was over 10 years ago, and I can't find it mentioned in Tanya's CRF site, but it may have been when I was on the support group. I made the SEB into a syrup, and syringed a small amount into my kitty's mouth. She was late stage, so I can't really say if it helped, but I thought I'd mention it anyway, as I can't imagine it would hurt? That is if Simba tolerates the syringe into the side of her mouth.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it won't work. Any time I have tried to give her medicine by mouth, she clamps her mouth shut and shakes her head from side to side.

You are welcome, I thought I had read that before, but I couldn't remember. I can't say that it would be palatable enough to lap out of a bowl on her own, but might be worth considering.
