Yesterday

Good weekend for Roo, spent some nice time in the blues! I guess despite the pink PS numbers he has been dropping into the blues during the day which I'm relieved about. I got some more numbers between PS and +2 and it looks like his onset is closer to +1? I'm also trying different food amounts and types and tracking everything to see if that makes any difference. Time will tell!

Days like today are why I can't move Roo's shot up to earlier in the day since I just got home from work I'm thinking that he seems to ride a little bit higher when he gets a combo of Friskies and FF vs just FF.

Echocardiogram is tomorrow so poor baby is gonna have to be at the vet all day. They said I can't feed after 10pm, but I can give half the dose in the morning - does that work? It would only be a drop since he's so low already, but not sure how not eating and Lantus go together. Would it be better to just skip? They said I can bring him food to eat after the procedure but not sure what time of day that would be.

Back to the grind, still have a lot of work to knock out today, but lord is my little man being all cute and snuggly its so hard to drag myself away

Tomorrow reminds me of getting a dental for Furball. No food after midnight and deciding whether to give the shot or not the morning of. My vet said I could give insulin, but I decided to skip to keep her safe. Will your vet be testing Roo's BG tomorrow? If not, I'd skip.

They're probably not going to test, so I think I'm gonna go ahead and skip. It'll mess up progress for a few cycles but hopefully we can get it back.

I found the same thing, Catcat's BG tested somewhat higher when he ate Friskies, which is why I was feeding it at night for awhile .. saved me worrying about him going hypo while I was asleep -- not a huge differerence, but enough to be noticeable .. the reported carb content was about the same as the other three foods he was getting, so I blamed the rice in the ingredients, since one of the other foods had potato yet spiked no difference to those without

I think I'm going to stick to FF for the near future since his PS numbers don't seem to be as low as they used to be so I'm not too worried about a hypo. Based on the curves this weekend it looks like he is dropping down during the day but I hate that all I'm seeing during the week is pinks and yellows, it makes me so frustrated

I know what you mean, look at Catcat's results today, I had things I had to do, so the tests showed yellow yellow yellow (not mellow) -- he may have had some dips in between, will find that out later -- am almost tempted to increase back to the .75 but don't like the heartstopping dips he had on that now and then

Same thing with Roo, guess we'll just have to let these two buddies try to stabilize on the smaller dose.

Hmm, Neko never had anesthesia for her echocardiograms, just some sedation. Neither did a previous heart kitty. If Roo needs anesthesia again, remind them that he's diabetic. There are different feeding protocols for diabetics undergoing anesthesia.

I usually played it by ear in the morning as to what to dose. With the size of Roo's dose, I would just skip. A half dose is typical for anesthesia. Insulin is used by the body to do more than combat carbs in the food.

I don’t think they’re doing anesthesia or sedation, last week they said that even though he was anxious that he was pretty chill about staying in one spot so they shouldn’t need to do either. Either way, I will definitely remind them about the diabetes (for the millionth time even though they know they’re treating him for it *eyeroll*)

I might give a drop in the morning if his BG is relatively high (maybe above 350-375?) but otherwise I’ll skip. And definitely taking a few cans of LC FF so they can feed him whenever they’re done with the procedure.
