HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!! :) :cat: :) :cat:

WCR: Most Ps in place. Got my midnight kiss from sweet Shasta...followed shortly by a hiss from my sweet Shasta! :p We snuggled last night and this morning and then I spent the next few hours at Dillards for their one day sale. Ridiculous sales!! I stopped back by the house before running a few more errands and she was asleep in her carrier being very anti-social. I have some cosequin on the way...thinking she's a bit stiff in the back end.

Her toe is still weird to me. I took a look last night (which obviously carried over to our midnight kiss & hiss) and as I was looking, I thought I saw the tiniest of tiny droplets of puss come out from the under side of the actual claw. Ok, I don't know how to describe that better...and maybe it was just my tired eyes w/ a glass of wine kickin' in. Also, it seemed like her toe was kind of "loosey goosey"...like maybe she tore some ligaments or tendons? I don't know. I'm going to see if I can ask really nice and maybe she'll let me take a few pics tonight or a video? Wish me luck!

Toenail pics (sorry the pics are so large):

Anyone have any insight into her icky toe problem? I will call the vet tomorrow and send them pics (now that I have better/clearer pics). We never got to finish the Clavamox before Christmas because of the drive to Pensacola and non-ideal situations for administering ABs. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Gosh I don't know but that sure looks like it would hurt- poor Shasta :bighug: If you saw puss at this point, I would be inclined to get more AB for what looks like an infection. (But I am a natural born worrywart) Hope she feels better- more kitty kisses please Shasta!

Hi Deborah :)

Wow on the claw. No clue here, but it does look like some sort of infection, especially if you saw any kind of oozing and/or pus. I for sure would contact your vet, send the photos etc. Many healing vines for Shasta.

Have a great night. I hope your day has been a good one.

Thanks Ruth! I'm a worry-wart, too. :nailbiting: Just hope my vet is open for business tomorrow.

Thanks Michelle!! I hope ABs clear it up and I hope they are pleased with the pictures to help diagnose....because we KNOW Shasta is not about to be polite about a vetty visit!

I have no idea about the toe, but I hope you get answers soon. Love the kiss-n-hiss New Year's Eve :blackeye: (we need a hissin' kitty smiley :joyful:). Have a great evening, Deborah!

To me, it looks as though the nail was pulled partly off the quick. Also, there may be some callous growth off the pad bottom of the nail.
Will she let you use a warm, damp cotton ball on it to soak it a minute or two, or swab it at all?
Maybe if you can gently clean it a bit, you'll be better able to see what is happening.
NO peroxide, NOR alcohol as they sting.

Sorry about Shasta's toe. It looks like there might be something there, but it's hard to tell. The vettybean will be in a better position to evaluate it. Sending many healing vines and big hugs for the new year.

Ouch on the toe. I know nothing, but it sure does look like it might hurt. Hope the vet has some thoughts.

Hope tonight brings out the kissy Shasta, not the hissy Shasta.

Ouch on the toe, sending vines for Shasta. The shelter I worked at had a cat with icky, pussy toes, and it turned out to be a food allergy. But is was multiple toes. Is the toe smelly?

It's not smelly, but then again, she's not exactly letting me put my face near it!!!!! Last night's toe inspection turned into an anal sac expression. She's not going to let that happen again!

Here's the video that I shot...not the best quality, but then again, I was holding the camera, holding down a disgruntled Shasta AND messing with her poor toe. :( I'm surprised that I didn't end up more like...:blackeye:

I would love to hear how the toe inspection turned anal gland expression story.:arghh: No picture necessary! :p

Nothing like a Shasta poo pee tally to start off the new year right!:bighug:

Anne

haha...she was already in the "position"...might as well make it a package deal...that and her hiney smelled pretty bad...figured there had to be a reason! Now, just waiting on her poop for today. Might have upset her system with last night's gland expression and now she's holding off until tomorrow. So temperamental! :cat:

And you wonder why she is a "snotty cat":p:joyful: At least you got a kiss before the hiss.

I know she hates the vet...understatement...but that claw looks like someone needs to look at it. Have you ever tried a mobile vet?

Happy New Year!!!

Thanks, Poo Patrol! Keep on patrolling. She left us another pee pile last night, but no poo!
Marje, I think I only got the kiss before the hiss because it was a surprise attack kiss!!! As for the mobile vet, my vet said he'd be willing, but Shasta would be just as crazed. :( I hate that about her. I mean, she let's me perform anal sac expressions, for goodness sake...you'd think she'd be happy for anyone else to touch her BUT me!! I'll see what they say today and go from there. I sure do hate the fact that I start back to work on Monday. o_O

That is one yucky toe! My crystal balls tells me you might be getting a few more hisses before that's sorted out.

Great to see black eye smiley being put to good use!
