I decided to try frozen raw again as Ming's snacks and then see how he does with it. But I'm not going to feed too much frozen raw until he gets over this "episode" of dramatics lol. Also the bag has been in the freezer for a while and it's almost empty.

He ate the whole nugget with no problem so I'm glad he still likes raw! Hopefully it doesn't upset his stomach. The whole nugget which is about 1oz is all he's gonna get today. He ate frozen raw and freeze dried raw exclusively for a month before he was hospitalized and switched to Lantus.

There's a thread asking about switching to Levemir. I did some googling and read past threads on the forum. I know a few people recommended Levemir in the beginning because of Ming's high dose too.

What I've learned so far:
- later onset at +4 usually
- more levelled curve than Lantus/less volatile bouncing
- stings les
- more expensive (lol)

Any thoughts as to if Ming would do better on Levemir?

Maybe it's something we can think about/try later. I think #1 right now on my list is to check in with the vet about Ming's pred. Although, his little possibly pancreatitis episode a couple of weeks ago makes me think he needs it and then there are the voices on the forum that have said there's not much data on pred helping with pancreatitis.

Another thing I was thinking about: CBD. But then I was JUST talking to a tech yesterday who uses CBD oil for her dog who had bone cancer 2 years ago and she was mentioning that since marijuana has been made legal in Canada, it's actually gotten WORSE. Something about the government shutting down dispensaries because the products aren't produced or regulated by the government and the places she usually goes to are shut down and the government won't sell "the good stuff" as she says. Just when I was feeling comfortable about exploring CBD more seriously...

I might make an appointment with a vet (when I have $$$ lol) that was recently mentioned in an article on ModernCat magazine. She recommends clients to ask about CBD and none of the vets at my work know much or recommend CBD.

The only way to know if Ming will do better on a Levemir is to try it. ECID. On the other hand, I don’t see people switching back.;) Onset and nadirs are later but again ECID, plus or minus an hour on onset. Neko’s nadirs most of the time were +9 to +12, which means lot of opportunity to shoot low. I know I did better with Neko on Lev, longer stretches of sleep at night cause she was flatter and I got to go out in the evenings more cause onset was later. It’s like maybe $10 more a five pack of cartridges?

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who just had a knee replacement. She is a former nurse and using and liking CBD for nausea. Not sure how it works in cats, there have been no studies done on it, just a study underway on dogs at CSU. I have seen pet variants available in pet stores here but no nothing about brands or quality.

HmmmmmmmmmmmMmmmmmmMm

I was just thinking it would definitely be better for my mom who goes out early in the day and comes back around +5. So that’s a plus.

Something to think about. I’m liking what I see with Ming this past week but we’ll see.

Can you get Levemir without a prescription from pharmacies?
