What a beautiful start for Walter today! I hope he'll forget about those high numbers and stay here on the blue beach!

I hope you have a great day Zelda!

AMPS+7 = 652 I’m worried that I might’ve given him a fur shot this morning. Will food drive this number up? He’s hungry.

Do you have any zero carb food around? It’s after nadir so ideally you wouldn't give him any carbs. Boiled or baked chicken breast also works.

If you smell insulin on him, could you put FS beside the dose amount in the spreadsheet so we know there might have been a fur shot. It’s also possible he’s bouncing from a long stretch of blue.

ECID so food might raise his BG a little but if you’re feeding low carb, then you should be fine to feed up until +10. Since Walter has a history of DKA, I would feed him if he’s hungry. Ketones form when there’s high BG, not enough insulin, and not enough calories.

edit: I agree with Wendy too. Usually we try to feed the bulk of their food before nadir so preferably a zero carb food is best after nadir.

I’m sorry you think you did a FS. It might also be an ugly bounce from the nice blues Walter saw last night and this morning.

Thanks Wendy and Crista—I fed him a very little bit of FF.
Still waiting for the lab tests from Saturday. I had him on the bed today in his old spot and he seemed fairly content for about an hour—then back under the bed. Walking seems slightly better but still has issues with his back legs.

Hi Zelda, I just saw your post from 1/17 (I didn’t go that far this morning when I responded) and what a scare! I’m surprised you haven’t received your test results from Saturday.

    I hope the zobaline helps.
