Todays BG:
9:10am - 269

LLEF has helped me to get Jupiter in to see the vet today @ 3:15pm.

QUESTIONS:
Any input on things to discuss with the vet today would be appreciated.
If the vet agrees Jupiter needs to be back on insulin, I would like to discuss with the vet, a good starting dose. What is the starting dose Jupiter would get? 0.5u?

Last time you started him on 1 unit. Wouldn't it be the same?

Also you will need to be very strict on dosing as I believe a second remission is hard to achieve so strict control would be important... i.e. not letting a dose sit too long if its not working.

How much does Jupiter weigh now? That needs to be calculated in. I'm not sure how bad the storm will be in your area, be sure to check the vet is open before venturing out.

okay so the vet said jupiters teeth are bad (said he probably needs 4 extractions). He also did a urine culture, urinalysis, and bloodwork. We will have the results on wednesday. He would like us to start Jupiter back on insulin right away since his BG is so high. He wanted us to start Jupiter on 2u twice daily but I would only agree to give 1u twice daily to start.

Just nervous. Been like a year and half since we did this sugar dance. hope hes back to the falls soon. okay so just gave his first dose. when should i test first? need some reminders

It's always a good idea to get at least a +2 test to get an idea if Jupiter will go up or down in the cycle. If you can't get a +2, a +3 works too. Some people get a +1, but it doesn't work for Furball. That is still too influenced by her eating to tell me anything. I hope Jupiter gets back to the falls quickly.

I wasnt able to get the food picked up before PMPS and I dont think I will be able to in the morning either. With Little Rosettes weight loss, we need to make sure we have food down for her at all times...

I am able to monitor whenever though

Thank you everyone for visits and replies!

Good luck Jamie - I hope this is a very short visit. Good plan to start with 1.0U and see how he does.

If he ate at PMPS, then that +2 could mean an active cycle, you never know. I wouldn't wait longer than a +4.

The +2 less than PMPS means this might be an active cycle. Kitties don't always follow the same patterns when they come back from the falls. I agree with Dyana on the +4.

I did see him eating about 30 minutes before the +2 test. Not sure when else he ate because the food is always out right now. I know I am going to have to figure out a different arrangement so that im able to pick up the food, but need a few days to figure it all out. I will test at +4 then. thank you both for the replies
