Skooter is not showing a lot of interest in his fuds these days. He does not seem to be sick, no lip smacking, nothing like that, he goes to the feeder when it turns, but just doesn't eat a lot. So I am wondering if he is perhaps tired of having the same food every day? I hate to introduce different kinds or proteins as I don't necessarily want him to become a picky eater, but I am wondering if it is worth a shot. The question is, keeping in mind he seems to be a bit carb sensitive, do I go with a different protein within the same brand, another brand same protein, or different brand and different protein?

He still is picking at the food as its there and his numbers have still been getting into the greens, I just worry he is not getting the amount of calories he needs. I have my first work out today with my trainer, so I will be getting a roasted chicken when I go grocery shopping after and will supplement that with his fuds, and see if that works to get him "excited" again.

Otherwise he is doing well. He is not acting any differently, still such a lovey dovey. Any thoughts on the food situation would be welcome!

HAPPY CATURDAY!!!!

Are you weighing Skooter regularly to see if his weight is changing with the new style of eating?

I have four foods (and proteins) I serve in rotation. When I first got Neko as a young adult, I did just one food, but she'd get tired of it, or the manufacturer did something different in the process, but she'd be less interested as you are seeing with Skooter. That's when I started adding more choice. If something changes in the manufacturing, I'd have a fallback she likes. For a while, I was hunting for certain lot numbers that were acceptable. Anyway, I think that's my roundabout way of saying maybe Skooter wants a little bit of variety. Due to his IBD, I might stick to a same or similar protein. ie. if he's getting chicken, maybe branch out into turkey which is also poultry. I don't think you have to stick to the same brand.

If only my cats could be more like my dog. He eats anything! (including sticks, rocks, dead things he finds on our walks!)

Cats? Mine like variety. Too much of a good thing and they go on hunger strikes. So, yes, I mix it up a bit. Sometimes, with Polly it's just a question of moving her plate a bit. Food she wouldn't eat while on the counter, is food she gobbles if I put the plate on the floor. But I don't have an IBD issue with anyone. Just FD with Polly and kidney issues with Boomer.

Hope you find a solution for the Skoots and he views eating as fun again.

Enjoy your trainer assisted workout. Good for you, Molly.

Have there been any changes in mediations or supplements lately? Is it just rejection of food or s he showing signs of nausea? After Tiger's bout with P-titis, she rejected previous foods- all I give her now is Wellness Core chicken/turkey and liver, if she ever rejects that, we are sunk...:nailbiting: With Skooter's IBD, it would be difficult to make too many changes i would imagine? I may be looking at this with Tiger as well, US coming up later in Feb.

Congrats on hiring the trainer! I signed DH up 6 months ago and it was the best thing for him!

I weigh Furball once a week to keep an eye on her weight. I bought a baby/toddler scale. I hope you can find something to get Skooter excited about eating again.

We feed a wide variety of foods, primarily because one civilian will not eat the same food more than two meals in a row. He was also a kibblehead that was a little challenging to transition at first. Thankfully we don't seem to have any digestive issues in the house. I think Wendy's idea of trying a similar protein is a good one. Or maybe same protein with a different texture? Like shreds versus pate? I forget whether Skooter was picky about textures or not...

Good for you on the trainer!
