10/04/18 Texas Gizmo PMPS=126, +3=156, +4.5=113, +11=73

Quick update. He finally ate some of the Koha Guineafowl for bfast and finished his +2.5 (about an hour late) - ha, the mirtz must be kicking in.

Got a vet appt @5pm. Going to have them run SuperChem to ck anemia levels and pot, phos, bun & creat. Also going to get cerenia shot and pick up more fluids.

I know this is a flare. I hope the fluids last night and the cerenia shot today will get him overy the hump.

Thanks for all the vines :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Y'all are the best:kiss:

Glad the mirtz kicked in and he had some breakfast. Eat your fuds please Gizmo and sending lots of vetty vines. BTW, been meaning to say how much I love his avatar!

Does Bupe expire? I have a few (very few) doses that I purchased in Feb 2018. It is in a tube with a stopper to draw out the dosing into an oral syringe. It is weird. You attach a needle to the oral syringe, draw the dose and then remove the needle and administer the dose orally.

I want to ask about getting some transdermal bupe compounded. Is there a strength? I know that my vet will have no idea what I am talking about so I need to be able to tell her what I need and what and how to write the script (or phone it in to Diamondback).

Sending appy and feel better vines. :bighug::bighug: Hate p'titis.

I got compounded liquid bupe, it expired after three months. There probably is a strength in the transdermal as there is in the liquid. Why don't you call the compounding agency? I'm sure they could arm you with the info you need for the talk with the vet. Mine compounding agency pharmacists were very helpful.

ETA: My liquid bupe was just in a small glass container. I could just insert the oral syringe into it.

When I got the bupe compounded into a transdermal gel for Simba, the vet chose the strength. I think it was based on her weight. It expires quicker than the liquid bupe. I think it was good for a little over a month. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hope he gets through the flare quickly! I probably asked this before about the Pancreas Booster. Did you stop because he would eat it in his food? Wondering if it's worth another try? If you need some, I will send, I have 3 bottles on the shelf.

Back from the vet. Unremarkable visit. He semi-behaved. He got the Cerenia shot. Physical exam found nothing (yay). No weight loss (which I knew). Blood pressure was 130/112. She is calling in transdermal gaba to diamondback. Bloodwork will be back sometime tomorrow.

Mama and buddy are pooped. He still isn't esting but hope that the Cerenia shot kicks in and once he settles he will.

The Bupe ear gel I got from Diamondback is 1.5MG/ML, and my vet recommended we start off with trying .15 / 3 clicks (one click = .05). Shmee is usually 15.5 lbs. I really don't know for sure how much it did for him. The first few times the gel hardly came out, so I realized the third time I did it that I had a lot more cream then the first few times. It seemed to help but I also wasn't even sure he was in pain still by that point so I stopped giving it to him. I would say depending on how much Gizmo weights you can start off with .1 and see how he does. They say it lasts 6-12 hours so you would have to play around with the dose.

I see you got the Gaba though - this should do the trick. I hope it helps him :bighug:
