Good luck Gordy!!! Fasting is really hard on the furfamily and the Bean!

Keep us posted after you hear how he did. I wish someone could pick him up for you so you don't have to leave him overnight.

    Thanks everyone!

I wish I could get someone to get him too =( but my friend who I would normally call for it has an evening appointment to go to (and my other one is closing with me at work).

    Ok, just spoke with vet.

He had some lesions and they are pulling one molar and one pre-molar. No dry for a few weeks (which is fine... he'll have to live.)

She wants him to lose weight and is asking for me to just feed him the equivalent of 8.5oz a day. He gets about 10oz now. Its doable, just gotta come up with an attack plan. She says I'll want to make sure he gets the needed calories. So I'll check with her later to see if she has a caloric number in mind. Vet says to hold off on any big increases in insulin for now. We'll play that part by ear.

She is gonna see if someone can stay a little later so I can pick him up tonight. But even then... I'd feel bad if I cant get there still. Maybe the traffic gods will smile on me.

She will also be there saturday and she said she is well versed in gastro issues so hopefully Rex can get her standing prescription of the anti-nausea meds. it came up because she wants me to be on the lookout for pancreatitis flair up from the vet visit.

She also wants to give him insulin no matter of he is eating... I told her my worry about how he drops super quick if he has nothing in his tummy and she understands - but she is worried about the higher numbers and him having the extra stress.

Woohoo! All done and with pearly whites. :) Even if less of them. I hope you will be able to pick him up tonight.

Your vet sounds pretty smart. I agree with her on the dosing if he's not eating as much. Maybe half dose as a compromise. Of course, not if he's in some of the silly numbers he likes to give you in the morning.

Did you take him to a vet dentist, dental specialist or his regular vet. Bud needs to have his teeth looked @, but the only vet dentist is 100 miles away. I am unsure of what to do.

    OK! he is home!!

They gave him 2u at 1pm, which was about 6 hours ago.... he is already down to 95 because he is not eating. Ughhhh. I have the A/D out and I am trying to get him to eat a little. He is superrr highhhhh. I am going to keep watching him and hopefully get him to eat something.

I have new complete bloodwork that I will enter in later.

Still hasn't eaten =( but he is drinking some water here and there. I got him to lick some gravy.... so hopefully he'll eat soon. I really wish they'd listened to me on the "no food, no insulin" route. Maybe, next time, my knowledge of my cat will overrule them.

I'll be testing him again soon... but i really don't want to know what it'll say.

He ate some! It was only a teaspoon of A/D, but I'll consider it progress.

Errrr. I am trying to decipher my labs... And some of these don't match up with anything?? LOL. I'll try and scan in over the weekend. Really the only things out of the "normal" ranges are his glucose (which was a ridiculous 475!) and his WBC (and that was barely below the norm at 5.47). I've entered what I know matches what my paper has.

Time to go see if he'll lick up more food.

I used my regular vet, but I go to one that's cats only. Has you had your regular vet looked? Most will do dentals and your kitty should be fine (unless Bud has some issues outside of diabetes). I see he is high dose. I'm not sure what that brings to the table with dentals.

His +9 and +10 were both 65. I think he has leveled out in green, which is nice. He ate a little more A/D just before the test. I think he is pacing himself and I don't want to push him to eat more than he can handle at once.

I am exhausted. I've been having heartburn induced nausea all week and tonight I feel a cold coming on. I am not allowing cats in the bedroom tonight... (Raptor still rudely wakes me up and I don't want Gordy retreating under the bed.)

I'll check Gordy's sugar in a few hours and make sure he is still safe.

I'm glad to hear Gordy is doing better. Get lots of rest and fluids. I hope you avoid the cold, the "crud" is mean this year and already circulating.

    I have
talked to my regular vet about a dental and she does not want to do a dental on him unless it is a must. The only veterinary dentist around is 100 miles away, but I have not looked for a cat only vet. I am going to look, Thank you.
