Yesterday's Adventure

Well, there he goes again with the AM number. Darwin runs the show! :joyful: LOL.

What DO I do if he never comes up above 50 for his PS?

Hope all the kitties are happy and healthy today - sending out PAWsitive vibes! :cat:

It's a good problem to have but I'm pretty sure Darwin is done with the juice. Below are the OTJ Trial instructions. Bascially if he's green (any green) at preshot, no need to test again until the next preshot. If he's blue at preshot...test at +3 to see if he comes down. Since there was question about a little depot left (although by now IMHO there isn't any). I'd officially start the trial tomorrow. With numbers in the 40's I wouldn't even try the drop dose. Worse case the numbers start trending up and you resume insulin at the appropriate time.

Start the trial on the next green pre shot.

If he/she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time; just feed small meals and go about your day. If he/she is blue at your normal "PS", feed a small meal and test again after about 3 or 4 hours. If his/her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then the pancreas is working!

Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. He/she may have a sporadic blue number. Don't panic but post before you decide whether to shoot so we can have a discussion.

After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!!

Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens; we just give him/her the support needed. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Good luck with the trial!!!

How exciting!!:D Best of luck on the trial!
Thank YOU! :D

Hi Karen. I was thinking trial yesterday. While micro dosing is preferred for a strong remission, in my opinion, these low numbers indicate it’s time to at least try. If his BG starts to rise then I think she could go to Micro dosing but I’m betting Darwin wants to do it his way.
Thanks! He has always liked doing things his way :joyful:

I initially thought he might be gearing to go to a low dose (or early remission) when he first started transitioning to canned food (he came from an HC dry diet). I had wondered if he didn't because I wasn't shooting any of the lower numbers at that time. The second week in July (when he started FF canned), I skipped a bunch of shots because I was scared to shoot that low (and doing SLGS), and I had wondered if I had done TR back then if a little insulin, plus the diet change, would have pushed him OTJ sooner. Well, we'll never know! Excited to see what he does, but I'm more than willing to take time, and let him decide what he wants!

Haha, right?
39 @ +7, seems like he likes to fly low:D
Haha - you caught me! I couldn't help myself, and had to sneak a test in! And then I tested my civvie just to make sure my glucometer hadn't malfunctioned 3 days ago...:p
:woot::woot:
There you have it! You're declared to be on the 3rd day of the OTJ trial!
I cannot believe it!! :woot:
Tomorrow ,post the date, Darwin and Day 4 in the title so we can cheer Darwin on! And so that Camille will see that you are on a OTJ trail and send you info to make a sweet OTJ video for you!
Will do!! Eek, that's super exciting!!!!!

Well bfg doesn't mind, in fact I get the early morning call every day at 8am, he demands his poke and treat:) so I figure no harm in keeping tabs on him regularly, that way I can nip it in the bud should there be any problems.
That REALLY does help!! Darwin won't touch treats, but he loves his post-poke brushing! I think he might even insist I continue! ;) It never cease to amaze me how great he is for testing and shot time either because he is extremely resistant to any oral medication, and hates to be picked up or cuddled :joyful:
