Well, still not eating the way she's been eating the last year or so, but her numbers are good so I don't know what to think about this difference in her appy at this point
Mama pulled a muscle in her right shoulder which makes it really hard to spend much time on the computer too! This getting old stuff is a royal pain in the ***!!
Going to save my pennies and try to get China back to the vet for a chest x-ray and the specific gravity on the urine as soon as I can, but the $100 I spent last week broke the bank (which is really easy to do!!)
So sorry to hear of Tess's passing....another of our long term kitties gone. We've lost so many this year of the kitties that were here when China and I first joined....makes me sad
Seasonal appy decrease? Or, she's just funning with you and giving you something to sorta worry about. Cats do that, you know.
Heal quickly vines for your shoulder. Always one thing or another. A favorite bumper sticker I've seen: Getting old ain't for sissies. I know the warranty on most of my working parts has long ago expired!
Well she needs to lose weight, but it's just plain weird how she's gone from eating too much to not eating near as much in just about 12 hours....she was eating "normally" (too much) on Thursday when she went to the vet...since then it's been a lot less
I can't attribute it to seasonal...I'd think that would come on kind of gradually, not all at once, so I guess we'll go with "she's just being a cat"!
And now, she just filled up on water and then gave me a 58 so isn't interested in eating anything!! I need some medium carb water I guess!
Sorry to hear your shoulder is bothering you. Did you get China's labs yet? I've missed your last condos as u have a rotten cold so just saw that her appy isn't normal. I hope by the time you read this it's vastly improved. I now get a urinalysis with every visit that involves labs to get a better picture. Maybe you can do a free catch and bring it us for the USG? The first void of the day should be the most concentrated. Max is too private for me to do that but if his USG much lower tomorrow I just might do that using gravel or the special litter I bought but never used.
You posted while I was writing. Do you think she is nauseous? Max often has appy issues after a vet visit which is one reason I dread going.
Nice numbers for China today - she's working hard at the lagoon. Maybe she's just too sad to eat. I, unfortunately, can eat no matter how sad I am. But I am very sad about Tess. As you say, one of our long-timers. We're all family here, but the longer you hang around, the more attached you get to certain kitties.
Sending healing vines for that shoulder. Will your NSAID cream help with the pain?
Good question!! Unfortunately, my arm won't reach that way to put it on and China won't help!!
Well China dropped more (which I was kind of expecting) and when I tried to get her to eat she turned her nose up at it ....even the medium and high carb! But I kept at it and finally got her to eat enough that I feel OK giving her another hour before testing.
She's not acting like she's nauseous ...no lip licking...just not eating (unless I kind of force the issue)
Sorry China is not eating as she should.....does she want a change of diet?
Poor you with a painful shoulder...I agree, getting older sucks....... If you can't reach the spot to put on NSAID cream, you could try putting some on a spatula or the back of a large spoon and try rubbing it on that way.
Rusty has days when he doesn't want to eat much. I hold the bowl for him and then he eats. Did you buy new foods? Maybe China doesn't like them. But maybe she is grieving for the loss of Tess. I think Rusty might be, also.
Try not to worry. She'll probably come out of it. Seasonal changes can affect us all.
Hugs and scritches,
Ella & Rusty
Yo Deputy China, I'll meet you at the lagoon and we'll keep watch together.
