10/30 Luci AMPS 212 Update: Luci at vet- she’s hurt prayers please

Luci fell off of the sill downstairs today and injured her left rear foot... so much so that it appears swollen and she doesn’t put any weight on it.

We’re at the vet now . She’s just gone back for x-rays... I’m so upset... poor Luci is probably more upset than me..

Prayers and the mighty healing powers of the forum welcome please...

Luci as three broken bones in her left foot. Two bones are completely mis-aligned. The third is cracked.

I'll add a new post at the bottom.

Luci sure seems to be taking her time relaxing at the beach. Yesterday @Sonia & Leo made the funniest reference to Leo having imbibed in a few too many Cat-tinis at @Bellasmom - Bella's Tiki Hut - and was 'passed out at the beach'...I just had a visual of Leo all draped across a lounge chair at the beach just catching some rays and snoozing away..Luci is obviously only making it that far every day...she goes to the beach, but just can't bring herself to do any surfing...loafing there with the other kids!

I'm hoping to shame her into the lagoon! Yesterday's task is done: cleaning the oven. Today it's cleaning the refrigerators. When you're gone for 6-7 months its no fun to come home to a science experiment in the fridge!

I did catch Luci at the door yesterday - 'birdwatching' ...look at those eyes, huh? I think she was putting on her Halloween costume! DH said she looked like she had 'devil eyes'...

Luci has a permanent nest up there - she's kinda happy that the other kids are joining her this morning...I think she's having too much fun in that darn lemon tree! Hope they all come down soon!
 
Move over Luci and Bella, Leo's on his way up the tree and dragging his lounge chair with him! :joyful:

Love the visual! You give me a laugh-out-loud with these 'views' of Leo:joyful::joyful:...I sure hope he gets the group back to the beach...gotta be so much better for all of them than that old lemon tree nest! :facepalm:

Luci is just insistent on nesting in the lemon tree! She is on the lower branches though. Is she searching for Leo? And Bella?
Goodness kitties, the beach is a warm place to gather and talk about next moves - to the lagoon!
Like you, I can't get Leo's imbibement out of my mind, lol!
 
Luci is probably a little upset that you are spending so much time cleaning. She is up in the LEMON tree so that you'll come get her and PLAY.
You are smart to do the cleaning now. I hope Florida's kitchen is ready for your pies....yummy
 
Luci jumped up on a window sill downstairs and I'd lowered the blinds - she must have been unable to get her perch and I'm guessing that's where she fell from - I heard a crash - went to investigate and there she was resting on the floor - when I asked her what had happened - it was not obvious to look at her that anything was wrong - nothing that I could see was broken or out of place - but then observed that she quickly limped away from me - up the stairs and into our bedroom to hide under the bed.

I went up and had to get down to find out what was going on with her and she retreated to the guest room - again not using that back left foot...

Called and was able to get her seen immediately. They took x-rays and showed me that she has three broken bones in her foot. 2 misaligned and one is cracked. They have her there now under anesthesia to set her foot. She will be wearing a splint and will come home later this evening with an Rx for Gabapentin.

She will have to be confined to no stairs or jumping until she heals - won't be a problem in Florida as we have no stairs there - but here with the stairs everywhere we've ordered a mesh-sided pet pen - which will be here on Friday - in the meantime she'll have to be confined to her carrier and to the laundry room where her litter box is located...I'll be feeding her there and hopefully with diligent supervision won't be doing any jumping until the pet pen gets here.

Sue, I just got home and read about Luci and her broken bones. Bless her heart

. I hope the Gabapentin brings her relief and that it allows her to get the rest she needs to heal.

Hi Mandy! Long time, no hear! I remember you were very supportive of Luci and I in her early months here...

It looks like Mandy is holding his remission like a real champ! I hope you are doing well also!

Sorry we had to 'meet' as it were...under these circumstances...

Needless to say, I'm in a fret about Luci and her broken foot...The vet seemed very nice and I felt that she was trustworthy. She seemed kind - otherwise I have nothing else to go on as far as he abilities...she was obviously concerned about Luci's well-being and making sure she was comfortable...

Rex is doing well, other than his constipation episodes. He's chugging right along! I am not testing as often as I should be, though.

I still remember one of your first few posts where you said you just simply can't test Luci. :joyful: She gave you too much trouble back then. Although it seems she is still giving you trouble nowadays. :facepalm:
 
Sue, thank goodness you were able to get her to the vet right away. Poor little sweetie. Sending her tons of healing vines, I hope the gaba will keep her from being in too much pain. Maybe ask for something stronger JIC? At least for the first couple of days? I hate to think of her being in pain. :(

She's out of surgery. We're going to leave in a few minutes to go pick her up...

Traffic is horrific out there just now - rush hour is in full swing - traffic is backed up on the x-way - we were going to try to wait until it subsides somewhat...

It's a nasty cold rainy day out there...no one remembers how to drive in 'weather'.. wait until it snows... :(

Poor girl. I hope you can keep her calm and she isn't antsy with her confinement.

Did she get tangled in the blinds? Having a hard time picturing how she did this. o_O
 
What a surprise to check in and see all you and Luci have been through. Anticipation tears running down my face. Tons of healing vines and love to you all - I'm so glad Luci is going to be ok, and really glad you caught the noise and found her soon. Hugs:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Oh poor Luci. I'm so glad you were able to get her in quickly and they could get the breaks set right away. I hope she cooperates with you. Sending healing and comfort vines to your sweet girl, and some hugs for you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Poor Luci! Happy to hear that surgery is done and she can come home tonight. Might as well make yourself a bed in the laundry room, you'll be up checking on her anyways. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
 
Awww, poor Luci. I’m so glad you realized something Had happened and were able to get her into the vet right away. I hope that her leg heals quickly, I’m sending positive thoughts and healing vines her way.
 
I am so sorry to learn about Luci's broken bones in her paw. I just saw your post and I feel so bad for Luci and you.
I'm glad she is back home with you where she will receive all kinds of love to help her heal quickly.
I hope she is comfortable and is able to rest.

So sorry for Luci but so glad surgery went well and now she's on her way to recovery! :) With good pain meds and all your wonderful care, she'll be ready for mouse chasing in Fl!
Now, it's gonna be interesting to see if she'll be able to climb up the lemon tree !!!:p
