Good morning all,
Happy Halloween! I find it difficult to post much lately. Lou's numbers have just been too depressing to talk about, and it's hard not to become a negative Nelly and bring everyone else down. I recently reviewed his spreadsheet with a fuzzy eye and I could tell immediately when I got to October, as the greens became much more scarce. It's difficult trying to help him when the problem is not obvious. I know there's a problem because of the time he spends in higher numbers versus greens. It's like his body gives up enough every so often to let the insulin bring his numbers down and then they shoot back up at the end of the cycle. He should have had an active cycle yesterday after the last bounce, but his numbers stayed pretty flat, considering. I can hope he'll have a better cycle today, but I won't hold my breath.

We don't have any plans for Halloween tonight. I used to dress up, but it started to seem like a waste of money after a while. That and I hate the crowds when trying to go out. I have the day off, but I switched a PM shift at the Peds Walk-in from Friday to tonight so my coworker could celebrate with her kids. I hope it's not too busy tonight and I can get out of there at a decent time.

I hope you all have a wonderful day. Sending vines to those in need, especially Miss P (@Phoebes ) and Jonesy (@Tracey&Jones ). Stay safe out there! :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sorry things have been so frustrating with Lou. Sometimes it is like one step forward, two steps back. Sometimes you just have to go up in dose in order to go back down. I hope Lou slides down and surfs today.

Aww sweetie :bighug:

I see on the SS there is dental next week? Is it just preventative or is there an issue? Maybe that will help. His numbers really are not that bad. Don't get too frustrated.

I do the same thing. I don't think anyone here needs to hear that yet another day of not eating well and being in pain doesn't do anything to encourage those just starting out or having their own problems. And, in reality, it doesn't do us any good to be negative all the time either.:D

It really does, doesn't it? Thanks, I hope so too, it'll make me feel so much better, haha.

Officially, the dental is preventative. I've wanted to do one since last October, when his numbers were high without any reason (obviously that was pre-IAA diagnosis). My vet has never thought he needed one, but we wanted to get one done eventually to ensure there isn't a problem that isn't obvious to her cursory inspection. He does sit with his mouth hanging open and recently I've noticed him tilting his head to the left when he's eating. So I'm hoping that something is actually going on and the dental will help his numbers. If there's nothing obvious, a good teeth cleaning is never a bad thing. :joyful:

Yes! That's exactly how I'm feeling, so I find I only seem to post when there's good news or at least the possibility of good news. I totally understand that's a silly reaction, but there it is. I also especially don't want to discourage newer members, considering how long we've been at this game. But at the end of the day it's a dance, and things don't always happen how we want to. Thanks again for the commiserations. I actually feel much better. :D :bighug:

They call this the sugar dance. Some days you get a really good dance partner and some days you get the partner with 2 left feet.

Hope the dental turns out to be a cleaning only. Hang in there.

Some kitties flatten out a lot after a dental. Paws crossed you see the same results.

You've held this dose 10 cycles, and I don't think those are the numbers you want to be seeing. I would increase at your convenience.

The dental is scheduled for next Tuesday. Would you still increase prior or do you think I should wait? It seems a rather long time to wait, but I figured it's worth asking...

:bighug::bighug::bighug: Sorry things have been so frustrating with Lou. Hopefully November is his time to really work the juice.
Thank you! I am hoping so as well!

I would increase, to help prevent glucose toxicity. If he has any extractions, it may also be several days of inflammation that can raise the blood sugars. I found it took Neko about 10 days post dental before her numbers came down.
