I think last nights shot was a bit skinny (under 0.75u). I fattened it up a tiny bit over 0.75u for this mornings shot.

Vetty visit today. Routine. Nothing wrong. BW/Urinalysis and recheck of the anemia numbers from 07/05 BW. This was supposed to happen last month but with Harvey and my vets being displaced and getting into temporary locations I just waited a bit.

I am kinda concerned about the wobbliness/balance issue he is having. I think it could be low potassium but want to see what the BW says before I try and start the new pills. I am also concerned it may be his heart. He seems to tire easily (but I think that could also be low potassium). And of course, concerned about the phosphorus level (itching?). BUT it could all be an overly concerned, hyper-vigilant mama :p. And the fact he is almost 15yo.

I am going to write up a short summary of my concerns. Sometimes she is really busy and doesn't have time to go over everything when I am there but if I write it down maybe she can look over my concerns when looking at the test results.

Appointment is at 10:40a so will be leaving here shortly after 10:00a (+5.5).

Happy Hump day!

Mornin, Lizzie!
I really hope everything is ok with Gizmo. I’m really hoping the Wobblies is just a potassium deficiency. Poor boy!

What time is it where you are? You get up quite early, it seems.

I hope you both have a good day and get only good news,.. :bighug:

I hope the vetty visit goes well and there are simple issues for your concerns. Has the vet been able to reopen their office? Sending prayers.

Double edge sword. Easy fix but he will not eat food with potassium added to it :facepalm: @Alicia & Maggie turned me on to some chewable tabs that are given as treats (Potassa-Chews) but haven't tried them yet. If those don't go over well I am going to try mixing the powder with water and adding that to his food or look into getting a liquid form or a compound form. I will be able to mess with that when I am off and can change out the food if I see he won't eat.

He has ALWAYS been a bit clumsy. Even as a kitten he would fall off window sills and off the back of the couch.

Very early. Lol. I get up at 3:20a. He gets his shot at 4:30. That allows me to get a +2 before work in the morning and +4.5 at night and still get about 6 hours of sleep.

Are you east or west AU? I have tried to figure out your times also:smuggrin:

Has the vet been able to reopen their office?
Not yet. They are saying March 2018. The 4 primary vets are split between two offices (existing vet offices) and they have a mobile vet coach set up in their old (flooded) location to handle vacinations, prescription refills and stuff that doesn't require an actual vet.

Kinda sad because their offices were only about 3 years old and had all the new equipment and new in house lab. They also had boarding facilities and a very nice grooming section.

It's 10:30 pm my time in Sydney (East coast of Oz). So I'm the next day, PM to your AM, and about 5 hours ahead of you. So 5:30 am on Wed am Houston time = 10:30 pm on Wed my time. :coffee:

Have you ever had to do two reductions in one day? Just not sure what to do if they dive in the am, you reduce, and then they dive in the pm. :banghead:

Will be thinking and praying for you and Gizmo extra starting at 10 ...also for vet to have extra wisdom as they diagnose him :bighug: Praying for a good report and easy solution for sweetie pie Gizmo :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Sending vetty vines! Hope your vet approves of the Potassa-chew and that Gizmo loves them and they help him. :)
I just want to make sure he still needs it and his heart checks out before trying them. Potassium is kinda scary. I looked at Maggie's labs and it looks like they aren't too strong so that makes me feel better too (and knowing you give a few a day).

It could be low potassium, which is often associated with renal problems. But, yea, I do the same hyper-vigilant angst, so I'm hoping the results are positive - no problems and/or easy to solve problems.

We are back from the vet. Physical exam was unremarkable! Nothing new or jumped out. Hearts sounds really good. Heart rate was 170 and considering the vet stress she wasn't concerned. He does have the start of cataracts but very slight. Bloodwork drawn and will have result tomorrow. She will call and email them. She did not do an urinalysis. Not sure why but they have always been fine and he doesn't have issues with UTI's (only once a long time ago).

Poor baby got car sick going over. I always take an couple extra towels so not a big deal but I always feel bad for him. He also poo'ed in the carrier :banghead: and he used the LB right before we left.

Got home right at +7.5 and he immediately ate that snack and is now just hanging out. I will give him a bit of pain meds tonight. I did give him a 1/2 Canna about 30 min before we left and it did seem to help a little with his vet stress though he hiss and growled and spit at everyone but didn't try and bite or scratch (improvement? -).

It could be low potassium
Vet had no issues at all with the pills - she said if he will eat them it is better than what he is getting now (nothing) so after he ate his +7.5 snack I cut one into 1/4's and gave it to him in his "special treat" bowl. He ate them (a whole pill) and came looking for more!! I am thrilled. I will start by giving him 1 at AM and 1 at PM with his treats after shot!

I'm so glad that nothing extraordinary jumped out at the vet's; very positive re: the heart, especially. :-)

Did she have any thoughts on the wobblies? Does she think it might be potassium-related, or might something show up in the bloods?

Sorry - I know this wasn't funny for you, but I did have to smile: cats!!!

I think it is the chews. They have suctose.

Glad he likes them, now I just hope the high BG isn't from them!

It sounds like the vet visit went well overall. I hope you get good b/w results back. Hopefully the treats aren't raising his BG. :bighug:

Really? +2=85

What a day my boy has had!

I wonder if the small amount of potassium had any impact on the BG #'s (dropping)? I am not sure who I could tag that would possibly know. @Wendy&Neko ??

Sounds like he is pooing a lot more lately
4 x's in two days! And, not to get into too much detail, they are really nice poo's :joyful::joyful::joyful: I am not sure I understand that - I discontinued the AVJ - Gizmo is a rule breaker/rebel (he takes after his mama )

I added 2 Tablespoons of MC to his upcoming +2.5 snack. Why, oh why, can't he do this on Friday or Saturday?? :banghead::mad:

I am exhausted and am hoping I can get him to surf - that is almost 100 drop in two hours though.

Now I don't know what to do with his dose :banghead::eek:.

I never noticed potassium making a difference. I was using the potassium gluconate powder in Neko's food, so not extra suctose. Could be the suctose raised the BG, then the carbs wore off. Might want to mark timing of chew given on the SS.
