Jack is up to his old tricks. He is hanging higher during the day and dropping low at night. I've needed some sleep so I think I might be over-carbing him a bit at night, or he might be having small bounces that are clearing quick. IT feels a bit like "too much looks like too little" but that is just speculation. He is much perkier and seems to be feeling better after the poops firmed up.

The litterbox camera is coming in handy. I keep a window open on my PC and if I see him head back there I grab my pee spoon and get a free catch. I am starting to measure his USG to see any kidney trends. I don't know how my refractometer compares to what they are using, but it is the standard for our fish tanks and is calibrated. The first results were not far off from the ones I got from the labwork. 2 years ago I would have laughed if you said I would have a camera to catch my kitties tinkles and measure it:D The things we do for our babies.

Just on today after a few days off. Are you using any probiotics with Jack? When Bubba had his GI pudding stuff, I did the Florastor and then a few days beyond. Then I started him on Slippery Elm Bark as a maintenance dose and so far so good. Keeping good thoughts for you and Jack.

He gets a regular human probiotic, but it does not have the S. Boullardi which is good for gi issues. I received some slipper elm bark supplements the day the poops firmed up:rolleyes:. I think it was the food that was doing him in.

He liked a chunky food I got, then the new case of the same food was pate and it did NOT agree with him. Switched again to a Weruva brand and same thing. Within a day of going back to the original food, better poops. Both new foods had xanthan gum in them which I suspect he might be sensitive to. I'm not thrilled with the current food, but it is keeping him more regular at least until I find something else.

I'm going to try to exchange the pate food(got it at a nice local mom and pop), and try a small amount of raw food again.

For any RadCat users, how do you deal with the frozen tubs? I have some little tupperwares I got from the last trial and would cut and measure single meal portions. I'd leave them in the freezer and put one or two in the fridge to thaw before meals. I didn't like how some of the frozen chunk seemed to thaw as my hand went numb trying to hold and cut it up. Hopefully the store has some primal nuggets or something precut into smaller portions.

My thoughts are with Michelle and Megan as they deal with the crossing of their furry friends.

I hope Jack flattens out for you. I'm glad his poop has firmed up. Too funny on using the cameras so you can catch him peeing. Our furbabies are worth it.

One of the reasons I stopped using RadCat. They stopped selling the smaller tubs here and all I could get was the large ones. Too much meat to thaw at once. I didn't like thawing and refreezing. Fortunately here I can get 1/4 lb pouches or casings, but making my own gives me the most flexibility.

Too funny on using the camera to watch the LB action.

I'm always impressed with those who can "catch the pee". He's still working the juice and you might want to practice measuring the in between doses i.e. .25/.75 :D:D Glad the stool issue has resolved and good luck with the food.

I don't think thawing and refreezing is recommended for raw food. I buy the small and medium sized tubs of Rad cat and let them thaw in the fridge over night (or in tepid water for an hour or so if I need it sooner and just get the thawed bits around the edge for a meal and leave the rest frozen to thaw in the fridge). I thought about portioning it up into meals, I have little glass custard bowls with lids that I use for their food bowls, but decided against it. You'll notice whatever meat is on the outside tends to go brown and when you scoop it out, the stuff under it is nice and pink. It's probably harmless, but I feel better giving them the fresh pink stuff and if you preportion, you're going to expose a lot more of the meat to the air and brown it. I just leave it in the tub in the fridge and just spoon out a meal portion at meal time. I agree, it's not nearly as convenient as nuggets, but I think the food quality is really good and as long as you use it up in like 3 days, it should be fine thawed in the fridge. Also, if you're concerned about exact portions, you could use a kitchen scale, zero out the bowl, eyeball a portion and add and subtract until it's the quantity you want to give. My friend does this, even with the nuggets, because they aren't all the exact same weight anyway.

I thought the same thing and resorted to using a steak knife to saw through the frozen chunk. I was doing the same as your friend, measuring out into little cups and only leaving what he would eat in a day or so in the fridge.

He is not modest in the slightest, makes a free catch much easier. I'm not thrilled with the daves but at least it firmed up the stool even if they stink to high heaven again. I found a new canned food(rawz) with no gums at all, just need to find carb content. Luckily the R got me some experience with .25 units. Never thought with Jack I'd have to even consider quarter units of Lev with him:D

:joyful:
Felix is modest, so a litterbox cam would show me acting all nonchalant as I sidle up to him with the pee spoon, and then Felix looking over his shoulder in wide-eyed dismay as I slip the spoon under him, and then we both pretend it didn't happen.

I don't know the carb content of RAWZ, but Rusty really likes it. It is only available at independent dealers (no large chains). It's expensive, but worth it from my perspective. To find a food that Rusty likes is a major achievement! Judging from the list of ingredients, it shouldn't be too high in carbs.

I particularly like the fact that the canned food is steamed and not rendered. You can also check the list of where the various ingredients are sourced on the website. Nothing is sourced in China. The company gives 100% of their profits to charities.
