After multiple reductions, we are back to making increases. I don't understand the frequent and sudden ups and downs. I'd be a little better to just "roll with it" if Rosie was feeling better, but she is still not 100%. Vet is treating what is suspected to be a kidney infection with Amoxicillin. We are on day 8 of the first 14. If this is a kidney infection, I think it will take a stronger and longer AB to resolve. Follow-up blood work will be done later this week. I'm looking for an improvement in WBC and kidney function. She is on SQ fluids because of decreased kidney function that has come out of no where.
This weekend I ventured out to a specialty pet food store to find some of the LC / Low Phos foods. Vet is suggesting phos binder because her phos shot up in the last blood work. I'm holding off until follow-up BW later this week because she was dehydrated and several numbers were off. But I want to be prepared if she is indeed having kidney trouble. It would be good to find food she likes. I was surprised that several of these are labeled "with gravy". So far, she really does like the gravy, but leaves the meat bits behind.
