Good morning all,
Quick here:
Sootie's ambg 78 good. Perky sweet, Spritely of gait and bright eyed and bushy tailed, yay! but taking her time about fud.

Azalea's: vetty's choice yesterday of tramadil injection for pain relief turns out to be not good fit for Azalea....long night, hides, rejects fuds, can't get more than a few drops at a time in before she paranoid squirms races and hides back under bed.
When she's on my chest, she is completely splayed out, heavily exhausted.
Bringing her back in to reg vetty this morning for fluids boost and CBC panel. With her eating off, I'm sure her #s will be way off.
Plus pre-surgery fud FAST starts at midnight tonight, Azalea: ya gotta eat!!!!

Thank you, Carla and each and every day, through thick and thin. ❤️

Just made some headway, diluted beechnut baby beef assist feed with Azalea. Comforting to feel she's got a little more in her tummy than barely nothing. Her uninjured eye is soooooo dilated. Pain? Tramadol effect? Both? Letting her rest a little, before bringing her back to vet.

Sootie in sunbeams, Azalea under bed. There's a metaphor in that, somewhere...

So happy to hear the good news report about Sootie, such welcome news! A testament to your powers of healing Sina:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Sending vines and more vines for Azalea :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
And some rest vines to you:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Well, the day has gone downhill fast for Azalea. That tramadol injection yesterday threw us all a set back curveball. We went back to local vetty for her pre-surg b/w for tomorrow's enucleation by OV. Amazingly Azalea made nooooo fuss about blood draw and an exhausted grrr during fluids afterward. A sure sign that she felt too awful to protest. She is so wobbly...been syrungeing and paw feeding off and on all day with her constantly heading back under bed after a few syringe-fuls. I let her rest then try again. Mid afternoon her eye had changed..,with a new piece either extruding from her eye or sloughed off and stuck to it. Sent pics to OV and reg vetty and homeopath vet. Heard back from OV. Bring her in earlier tomorrow morning, he thinks looks like eye deteriorating fast. Homeopathic vet has made suggestions that I hope will at least help her be comfortable and stabilize her.
I'll post photo if will be of any help or interest. But it's pretty awful.

In the Sootie realm, she's been front and center, had early afternoon food and is very happy to know that freeze dried minnows have returned to the home. Had two this afternoon, they're soft crunchy so she masticates them well and with no(crossing paws) adverse effect. If only we could do that with capsules or get a little 1/2 pill of cerenia into a minnow!

It'll be fud time for everyone soon, Sootie's pmbg time and am trying to get more fud into Azalea before midnight.

Jeez, I am beyond worried about tomorrow hoping we get through the night with azalea stabilizing and no eye rupture...what timing. Shoulda shoulda shoulda....

Thanks and love and hugs and vines and prayers for all in LL to have gentle good appy and looking forward night.
Sina

Ps azalea's b/w including today's updated today in SS tab for Azalea's labs. Did in between assist feedings.

I didnt see this post and posted on yesterdays condo.
Azalea's reaction to the tramadol sounds like Sheba's reaction to the oral bupe I gave her. The dose was too much for her and was very out of it and wouldn't eat...in fact I thought she was going to die. But she eventually came out of it and was fine. I was a wreck!
Maybe the dose of tramadol was too much for Azalea.
Sending a plane load of vines.

Thank you Bron. Yep, wring med, prob wrong dose for her tiny self, and def wrong timing.... hoping can get more fud in before presurgery midnight FAST begins. Hoping too more fud and the extra fluids today will help get it out of her system.
Sorry you had similar experience. Scary and I have been going through same worries seeing her struggle with the eye and then the darn tramadol on top of it. For a tough kitty, she is very fragile.

Sina, I so hope that what ever the homeopath gave you helps to keep her comfortable through tomorrow and soon this will all be behind you and sweet Azalea. My heart goes out to you right now to have both girls to be worried about although it looks like Sootie is doing really well all things considered.

Please know that so many prayers and vines are going out to you and Azalea for tomorrow and I know you will post when you can. If I remember correctly from Bubba's he was home by noon. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Thank you both, Carla and Bobbie and everyone here in LL. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Although azalea is still big time under the bed, is sort of ok being out from under for awhile (I'd set up foam and Sherpa pet pads under and around the bed, making it both more comfortable for her under there and easier for me to slide her out from under by gently bringing the pad she's on forward. The ones around the bed are to cushion her to avoid hard falls for the times when she's too fast for me to assist).

She was getting pretty good a little while ago with syringe feeding, almost sparkly about it, and really liked licking fud off front paws. I began to think maybe that damn tramadol finally wearing off. Then suddenly it's panic and under the bed. DH just came home and is with her now, I hope understanding and mindful of what I've explained.

I'm hoping the remedies that homeopathic vet suggested will help her to feel some comfort, cleansed and stable for tomorrow's surgery and post-op. Luckily I have them at home and a new supply of squirty bottles he sent me last week.

Crossing paws toes fingers mantras ....

Sootie is being great....she is very sensient of Azalea's struggles; I can see in her eyes that she is holding Azalea close and, in Sootie's inimitable way, holding the family team in concert for Azalea.

Azalea's surgery was scheduled for 12noon. tonight he bumped it up to come earlier so can start earlier if the earlier patient's surgery is done sooner.

Love hugs thanks and vines all around for all,
Love,
Sina Sootie Azakea and tribe

under by gently bringing the pad she's on forward.
Smart thinking! How handy to grab and pull. Keep in mind that she will come home in the cone of shame and probably will no longer fit under the bed for refuge. Bubba wanted to hide in my walk in closet since I had closed the basement off to him ( didn't want him navigating stairs with one eye until adjusted and also under the influence of the bupe) so I took some blankets and made a little fort for him to lie on.

Blankie Fort bed great idea! I was also thinking about how she can have a nook that's both Azalea and cone of shame friendly. Have a soft covered foam cube thing that I was thinking is cushioning and also a cushy bed that she used to like; could add a blankie tent around it. Thanks!

Oh yes, She's already in her own room, free of stairs etc. thing will be to keep her safely off bed or on bed should she get 'adventurous.' She's been bypassing the step stools.

In talking to OV this afternoon, he said was sorry Azalea had reaction to the tramadol but was good to know bc he'd do anesthesua etc pain meds all with that in mind. He is honest about being worried about kidneys but I feel in my gut that he will do everything to minimize stress and minimize anesthesia time. Sounds like surgery from prep to recovery about 30-40 minutes. Prayers for OV to be guided with azalea too.

BTW: dumb question: best way to feed During cone of shame time??? Cone on? Cone off? Best way? And of course ecid.!

i am so sorry for all little Azalea is going through... will be praying and thinking of you both tomorrow... my Seth (GA) somehow figured out how to get his paw into the cone and pull stitches out... so they had to upgrade him to small dog sized and it had to come off to eat... but before that he ate and drank just fine... only real problem was catching it on the stairs as he tried going up them but he figured that out too

i really hope that tonight passes for you all with no new happenings... that you are able to get some sleep (i know its going to be just about impossible) and again that everything goes smooth and fast for you both tomorrow... lots of vines and prayers :bighug::bighug:

is it possible they dosed her too high? It usually just looks like like are relaxed .... like they had a glass of wine an child out.
Prayers.....:bighug:

Thank you, Amber. Have only had to use them twice: GA Bo when he had to have stitches after a groomer accidentally cut him; after Spunky's ear polyp surgery. Spunky was just like your GA Seth: got her off in two seconds flat, so it seemed. Bo was much more stoic about his, but it also was shorter and more like a life preserver -collar.

Sweet dreams for all tinightbsbd every night. Thank you for your vines and prayers ❤️❤️❤️❤️, too.
