Gordy's appy is not quite there still. His number this morning could be food influenced since he isnt quick to eat his auto feeder right now. He IS eating, just not a ton.

Hopefully he comes back down soon. =/

(I will say... I started a new vial yesterday morning and I am using the one the vet gave me. If I dont see the numbers comeback down, I am inclined to think its a dud.)

Negative for ketones.

The +1 is looking promising and hopefully Gordy will do some sliding down today. It looks like to me that he is bouncing from yesterday's day cycle. He could have gone into some lower blues or even greens. The bounce could take 6 cycles to clear. Since he did hit some blues on the new vial you started, I am inclined to think the vial is good.

Came home on my break. Still not much of an appetite from Gordy. (Rex is taking advantage of it.) Didnt help that the auto feeder didnt spin

He is down to 271.

I expect Gordy is bouncing from whereever he got to yesterday during the day. He's showing he does need that dose increase when you can get to it. 3.5 units was not quite enough insulin, so 3.25 units definitely isn't. The other factor that could be in play is the change in syringes. It could be that the BD's don't hold quite as much as your previous syringe type. In any case, the solution is more juice.

Any particular reason you are using a vial from the vet? We've seen a few cases where they are compromised in one way or another, and often more expensive.

Sending appy and feel better vines for Gordy.

Oh, they had an unused pen donated from a patient; I was given it the other day. (Sorry, I default to using "vial" because its typically easier for me to explain to people LOL)

Yeah, I may do the increase tonight.

I'm pretty sure he is not feeling well from the hairball still. Poor little man. :(

Free pens are always good pens. :) Hate to say this, but hope you come hope to a productive pukus.

Ok. Food barely touched. No hairball coughed up yet.

He is at 106/118 (did 2 tests)

I can stall some since I am running a little early.

Could you stall 20 minutes or so and see if he's coming up? Do you think you can assist feed if he doesn't want to eat much on his own? Do you know when he last ate?

I can't stick around, about to head out. I would shoot, but I had lots of experience with a kitty with lousy appy and low numbers. Gordy is also breaking his bounce today, so tonight could be a little more active. He might have also heard us muttering about a dose increase. ;)

He is waiting patiently for his food. Its hard to tell if he is the one who did the partial eating of the +8 snack or not. Normally I have no doubt, but he is being weird.

I am stalling the feeding. Due to do a retest in 5 minutes.

I dont really want to skip, but I haven't dealt with him not eatint while on lantus. Its a rare issue for him.

I would shoot but only if he eats and you can get a +1 & +2 and be prepared to test/feed as long as needed tonight should he decide to do something funny.

ETA: yes, adding some MC to the LC is something you can do but you'll still need to monitor.

Ok, then ill feed then and see how much he eats.

He usually cleans out one whole can in a sitting... this morning he barely ate half.

Oh jeez.

So he ate most of the can.

But he is actually going down some... at 94 right now.

I know the varience makes this vitually the same reading right?

I can shoot soon... but i really do need to run out. Crapppp. Why do they do this when we have things to do?

Glad he slowed down. Deep breath. Just checking, you do have high carb food if needed? Plenty of strips?

+2 = 76

Holding steady! :)

Meanwhile... faced another cat-astrophe....

Rex is twitching again, so i went to give her a relaxer and it must have spent too long in her mouth. She spit it out and then commenced coughing foamy spit and mucus. I thought I had suddenly killed her. Nope. Shes fine. But she refuses to take a pill pocket and i dont have a fancy pill gun. Ugh. It worked fine the first two times.

Ok, good news. You can give him a little more LC to encourage him surfing and check again at +3.

Sorry about little Rex! Will she eat a piece of cheese or something that the pill can get buried into?

Have both freeze dried treats (whole life) AND cheese. Maybe the cheese will work.

Ok, Ill give Gordy a small snack and give him a poke break. I AM happy his is low, especially since I am home. Just don't want him playing with sharks.

Cheese wasnt fooling enough. (and i wasted 3 pills trying to do this tonight). So thats all for my attempts. I have never had to pill her before so I wasnt sure if itd be an issue... know now.

And for the doseincrease... i had a feeling! LOL. Call it a gut one I guess.

Do you mind keeping the subject line up to date? It helps us doing a quick scan.

I had to give a few pills worth $$$ so needed something I could rely on. I had lots of experience at pilling but my girl was a challenge. Especially with iffy appy.
