Yeah. After yesterday's cycle with the drop I was thinking we were in a pretty good place. I did the just push the plunger in and let go method to draw the drop, so I don't think I gave her to much.

PMBG 53 For sure not shooting. Feeding LC with HC Gravy. I'm a little freaked out. On one hand I'm thinking how great this is, but on the other hand I'm worried about how fast this happened and if it's going to stick.
This is just like Rex and his race down the dosing ladder. It has been 9 months (wow, already 9 months?!) and he just gave me a great number last week.

@Mandy & Rex I just noticed in your signature you feed a dry food when you are gone. Has that worked well for you? When we are gone more than a weekend we have family that comes to stay and take care of our animals, but once or twice a year we will be gone a day or two and have always just left food and water out for Freckles. I'm just wondering if that is still an option if it's only done a couple times a year.

I may be wrong but I think cats without other health issues go OTJ often if diet is changed. Max had chronic pancreatitis so even though I caught it early he was doombed. I think Freckles will do well. Fingers and paws crossed.

Lets make it official

  • Start the trial on the next green pre shot.
  • If she is green at your normal test times, no need to test further until the next "PS" time; just feed small meals and go about your day. If he/she is blue at your normal "PS", feed a small meal and test again after about 3 or 4 hours. If his/her number is lower 3-4 hours after a meal, then the pancreas is working!
  • Post every day so we can monitor your progress and see if any tweaks are needed. He/she may have a sporadic blue number. Don't panic but post before you decide whether to shoot so we can have a discussion.
  • After 14 days of no insulin, we have a party!!
Sometimes the trial doesn't work the first time and we have to give a little more support in the form of resuming insulin. It's not the end of the world if that happens; we just give him/her the support needed. Our goal is a strong remission and it's better to take our time to get that than to rush into remission just to have it fail later on.

Good luck with the trial!!!

Good morning! I had to go to bed early for work.

Yes, it has worked well. I gave Young Again Mature Zero for a while, but noticed one of my civvies didn't like it so I recently switched to Dr. Elsey's and everyone loves it. Both are approved for diabetic cats because they are very low carb foods. Epigen 90 is another one. They will send you samples if you request. I heard Wellness Core is another option, but I'm not sure.
