Leo is almost at the 3.5 year diabetes mark! Leo is doing pretty good for the past few weeks. His appetite comes and goes. His BG is still bouncy, with some small and mostly unpredictable hypos happening. I've been monitoring more closely to catch the hypos. Leo's PM dose is increased to 1.75. If he stabilizes a bit, then it will go to 2.0. Theresa is doing AM duty - first BG test at 5am, dose at 7am. Jeff (me) doing (10am-2am) duty - 7pm dose, and test until 2am if needed He has been alert, active (for Leo), and fairly tolerant of the increased ear testing. Leo always initiates the cuddle sessions with Little Dude. Once LD settles, Leo goes over and licks him a bunch, then they sleep together. It is really GREAT to have our two boys get along this well.
Love love love those boys! Poor LD went Boop! Thanks for the pics, they always make me smile and feel happy.
Thanks everyone. Leo doing good - a fun story from today. Leo gets one dog kibble a day, when the dogs get dinner. Today when I was feeding the doglets - I put dog food in one bowl - Leo was given his single kibble - I was reaching to get dog kibble for the second bowl - Leo dived into the first bowl like there was no tomorrow!!! I pulled the little carnivore off the fresh dog food and then gave him some fresh FF chicken. So I guess he's doing good enough to sneak food. It's springtime here in Austin. We plan to enjoy all 3 weeks of it, before it gets hot. Leo loves going in the backyard with LD and hunting bugs!
Hurry up Springtime! The snow is finally melting here. Leo is so amusing, that kibble must taste pretty good, or maybe it's just the "forbidden fruit" appeal.
I'm probably remembering this wrong but BJ, the definition of a Tomcat, brought home birds and once leaped through an open window with a baby bunny. Not funny but that's who he was. I swear I once saw him catch and eat a honey bee. Hi Theresa, don't believe everything Jeff has told you about me.
