so this a.m was 6 cycles at 3.5, and still no better than high 200s; does this sound like another .5 increase tonight?

Good luck with the increase. This last dose saw some yellow and no blacks so it was an improvement. Paws crossed for another positive change on this next dose. Work that extra juice Oren!

little heartbreaker: pmps 417!!! I have to go out tonight, for a while so is it ok to wait till tomorrow a.m? with this high a pmps, probably ok, but i'm always nervous to make a change when i'm not going to be around...I'm home tomorrow

Yes, it's ok to wait til morning. I'd still get a before bed test when you get home. We just need to be confident there are no sneaky fast dips into low numbers anywhere.

yes, I'll do a later night test. at least this bounce was smaller, don't like red, but lower end better than higher. sure was hoping for pink at worst. Interesting, he flipped yesterdays AM/PM ranges! Maybe he likes even numbers and 4 will be the ticket. Seems like an awful lot, 8u a day??

We don't consider suggesting people check for a high dose condition until the cat passes 6u per shot. But the most recent studies on acromegaly have shown that as many as 1 in 3 diabetic cats also have an acro tumor. So it could be that many of the cats on here with larger than typical doses may have something like that going on. No way to know and nothing to worry about at this point - i'm just mentioning it. Punkin had acro and got up to 31u per day.

The important numbers are the blood sugar - so as long as you increase methodically, per the guidelines, you can be confident that the dose is needed. The size of the dose is somewhat irrelevant - it's all about the blood sugar. A cat needs as much as it needs.

ok that was weird. pm+6 test came out 428?? 10 higher than PMPS. however, he had knocked the test strip onto floor beforehand, so i immediately tested again and got 399. I hope that's a more accurate reading? still not good, but at least down from PMPS, not up. In any case, he's going to 4u tomorrow a.m.
