Yesterday's Solo Act

Phooey!!! I just had to go and screw up Cinco's momentum after last night's BEAUTIFUL surf with a partial fur shot this morning! :banghead::banghead::banghead::( I thought it felt like it went all the way in, but then I saw the +3.5 and I noticed a faint smell of Lantus on his fur. I think some went in, but obviously not all.:arghh: He, of course, has no idea what's going on, except that he's not getting as many pokes (or treats). I just hope I can get him back on track quickly. This is what comes of my getting up at 6:30 am and trying to give a shot with my stiff, aching fingers while half awake.

Minka did not want to eat this morning, even after her tummy meds. I gave her some cypro. No change. I opened five different cans. No sale. I gave her some Cerenia. No change. Then I syringed about 9 mls of food and she walked over to the plate and ate a decent amount of Max Cat Duck (one of the five flavors she had previously snubbed)! A little later, she ate some more. :) She only ate about half of her baby food treat (1/3 of a jar for each cat), but I'm feeling a bit better. She even ate several bites from Sasha's bowl, which has the vitamins in it! If she doesn't eat a good dinner, I'll syringe more tonight. Fluids went well this morning - at least I didn't screw that up (yet - anti jinx). By the end of the 100 mls she's pretty antsy, but we managed.

Sasha ate okay, but she sounds terrible. I am giving her Atarax every 8 hours, but that only helps a little. We spent 30 minutes in a very steamy bathroom this afternoon. That seemed to help a little, too. I am wondering if it would be a good or bad idea to give her some Clavamox - I have a surplus because they gave me more than I needed for one of the other cats recently. It's the AB they would give if I took her to the vet. I know, from the last time, what the dosage would be. I thought I might start tonight and if she's not doing better by Tuesday ask if they can look at her when I take Minka for her acupuncture. Thoughts?
Harvey is being Harvey. Nothing new there, thank goodness.

I trimmed the catnip plant, which was getting out of hand, and I took the pile of green clippings and set them on the floor near the sofa where Cinco was sleeping. It didn't take him long to wake up and jump down to investigate the smell! He spent about five minutes rolling in it! He had a blast, and I did, too, watching. When he was done I took them away because I didn't want to trigger skin irritation. I set them in another room to see if anyone else would be interested, and Harvey visited them twice, but he didn't have nearly as much fun as Cinco did. Minka sniffed them and walked away, unimpressed.

Hope everyone is enjoying their Caturday.

Sending healing vines to all in need, especially Scooter, DoLou and Doodle, and hugs to all their beans, especially Linda, Lisa and Jennifer. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Lisa's DF, Marje's DM and Elise's DM.

Nooooooooooooooooooooo!!! Hope he gets back on track quick smart. The exercise of rolling around in the catnip should help - what a gorgeous image!

Better eat your dinner Minka...

Will the vet insist on seeing Sasha if you call to ask what they think about starting her on the ABs? If not I would give them a call.

Well drat on the fur shot. :banghead: Let's get back to bidness, Cinco. I'm glad that Minka ate a good amount. A colleague offered us a big catnip bush last spring and Zener loved it. He went out in the yard every day and buried his face in the middle. It's one of our best memories of his last few months with us. :)

Oh darn - I hate doing fur shots. But at least it meant a pokie break for both of you. You have enough already to do with your herd. :bighug: Love the description of him and catnip - reminds me, it's Catnip Caturday!

I wouldn't give ABs unless I knew there was an infection brewing. Does Sasha get allergies?

Oh No Tricia I did not mean to pass the furshot vibe to you!! :stop:;)
I have to grow my catnip outside or it never gets very big. :joyful: I love that Cinco loved it and rolled and played! Made me smile.

Thanks for the prayers. :)

Thanks for stopping by, Serryn, Liz, Wendy and Linda. It would appear that I got all the insulin into Cinco tonight. :):p I just hope that 136 point drop doesn't mean a bounce tomorrow!

Minka's appy is better tonight. She ate about half her dinner and has been nibbling since.

Sasha has been eating really well. I messed up and didn't give her the Atarax at 6:45 like I should have - just gave it now at 10:15. So her next one will be around 6:30 am when I t/f/s. Bad bean. :( She's a little trooper, though.

Catching up on the NASCAR action from today - truck race, practice, etc. Adult beverage soon - can't get carried away, though, since I still have to do Minka's evening dose of fluids. o_O

Looks lik the fur shot or partial didn't matter much. :) I get nervous just reading about all you have to do. Maybe you will actually get some sleep tonight fellow insomniac?

Well, doesn't look like Cinco or China's going to make it to the lagoon tonight, but the're on shore! Maybe they're grilling some fresh crab legs and lobsters!

We may have to crash the party.....want to make sure they're cooking them right and that everything is fresh!!...LOL

Somehow I missed Cinco's condo yesterday. Sorry about the fur shot, but it doesn't look like it mattered. I hope Minka will continue to eat for you. Do you have a vaporizer? Have you tried that for Sasha instead of having to shut her in the bathroom? If she has a place she sleeps most of the time you could set it up where she sleeps.

I get tired just reading about your daily routines, Tricia! Sorry about the fur shot, but it looks like Cinco got right back on track. I have a catnip plant, but Rusty ignores it. We have 3 large catmint plants in our yard and Stu used to love them (even sleeping "in" one), but Rusty is not attracted to it (or to any plants, for that matter, not even cat grass).

Thanks for all the vines for Rusty's vetty visit (and for my injuries, which are almost all better). Enjoy the day. We are sending vines for all your kitties, to be used where necessary!

Hugs and scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Ah, sleep. Highly overrated! Yawn....zonk. Well, maybe not!

Sounds like appy muse is visiting the girls. Hope she stays.

Cinco...extreme? Only for some bizarre sports, kid. Not for glucose numbers. Make it easy on the bean, ok?
