Yesterday's Fiasco
In the immortal words of Charlie Brown: "ARGH!!" I swear, I was so careful, made sure the needle was in all the way before I pushed the plunger. For a split second I was so proud of myself. Then I smelled the insulin.
How could I do this again???? Epic failure as BIC. I'm sorry, Cinco. You did such a good job recovering last night and now I've put you in a hole again. Sweet boy acted all morning as if he was green - great appy, more energy than usual, talkative, wanted lots of scritches. Thank goodness kitties are so forgiving.
Minka again didn't eat this morning. Even after tummy meds, Minka turned down everything I offered. Finally, around 2 pm I syringed about 12 cc. Then she ate a little Max Cat Duck. Fluids were late, due to the race (which I could have just skipped since my driver crashed half way through
). If she doesn't eat dinner, there will be at least one more syringe session. I may also give her some Cypro, which I haven't done yet today.
Sasha really wasn't interested in breakfast, either. After several failed attempts to get her to eat, I gave her some Cerenia. An hour or so later she came downstairs, like she was looking for food, but nothing I offered seem to appeal. I went upstairs with some Max Cat for her and discovered that she had thrown up at some point. She did eat some Max Cat then. I'm going to take up the baby food treat next.
Poor Harvey. When I was trying to get Minka to eat and dishing up all kinds of fuds, he and Minka were in the kitchen, under foot. I dropped a dish (empty) right on his head! It was a plastic dish and didn't hurt, but it startled him. I immediately started petting him and making a fuss over him, hoping to avert disaster, but as usually happens when he is startled and Minka is nearby, he attacked her! I was able to get her away from him and shut her in Mark's office for a couple of hours (her safe room). By the time I let her out, he had calmed down.
In other words, it just hasn't been a very good day.
I haven't gotten half the projects done that I planned to while DH was gone. I guess I'd better get a move on now if I want to do anything more today.
Thanks to everyone that visited yesterday's condo this morning. @carfurby, I do have a vaporizer. I was running both that and my big clothes steamer yesterday for Sasha. We do it in the bathroom because it's a small space that will fill up with steam fairly quickly. I couldn't use the shower because the tub is still full of water from our previous session (one of my projects is to bail it out and water my plants outside). I've found it doesn't do much good to set the vaporizer up in Sasha's favorite room, as that is our bedroom. It's a fairly large room and has cathedral ceilings, so the vaporizer doesn't make much difference.
@Wendy&Neko, yes, Sasha has allergies and this is the time of year they usually kick into high gear. Poor little bugger still sounds awful. I know the vet won't do anything more than tell me to do what I'm already doing. I just hate hearing her breathe like that.
Sending healing vines to all in need, especially Scooter, DoLou, Tess and Doodle, and hugs to all their beans, especially Linda, Lisa, Ann & John and Jennifer.
Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF, DH and DGD, Lisa's DF, Marje's DM and Elise's DM.
