Poop Watch 2015 Continues - 03/02

Well he ate PART of his breakfast, but I had already given the 0.25, so we shall see. The stress from the vet should help keep his numbers up lol

Still no poop :( It is not for lack of trying on his part. So I am anxious to get him in to see if they can help clear out the remainder. He ate half his breakfast, which had miralax in it....meal two has cosequin, meal three I added a little squash, meal four has his probiotic (because I forgot I was gonna slowly work everything in) and meal five gots nuttin.....I did add extra water to each one, I may have to add a little turkey to get him interested in the food again.....between him and me, I guess I will be getting another turkey breast today at the store

I am actually impressed with his numbers (who ever thought I would ever say that about a yellow again?!) But I figure with all he has been through as well as still being constipated, this isn't that bad, heck we even got a little blue last night.....

He is currently sleeping in his bed after trying to poop again....poor thing, you can tell he wants to go....

Keep the vines coming for some poop please and thank you!!!! Vet appoint is at 9:40, so I have to sit for 3 hours, which will kill me lol

Hoping everyone has a great Tuesday and thanks again for all the support!

Poor little Skooter, and you, it's so hard on us when they're not well :(

Sending pooping vines for your little man, I hope the vet can sort him out this morning without too much stress.

Sending poo vines for Skooter. Toby gets constipated and I give him a glycerin suppository.
They usually work within minutes. They have to be children's suppositories. Also you can get children's glycerin enemas. My vet. was the one who told me to use these. I use miralax
1/8 tsp. Tried using pumpkin but made the poos so big he couldn't pass them. Have been giving hairball medicine to help him pass the poo. I give the suppository when I notice he isn't passing much poo. Maybe you can ask the vet. about it.

Yet more poo vines for Skooter. Paws crossed for a productive vetty visit. And here's Skooter's cheering section.

So we just got home and settled in from the vetty visit. It is the quietest I have ever seen him at the vet.

She looked at their xray and then wanted to do a follow up one. The vet was so awesome, normally the vet techs do the xrays, but she said since Skooter knows her so well, she was actually going to be the one to assist with it and he did it like a champ!

She did see about 7 stools still in there, BUT they have moved their way down the track and it looks like it is so close to going, which is probably why he feels like he has to go and keeps trying. She also saw some stool from the effects of the miralax. You could totally tell the difference between the two. She said instead of doing another enema at this point, which is fairly traumatic for the kitties, she wanted to try a liquid, I can't remember the name of it. She did say that it would probably bring his sugar up, but at this point its moot as the constipation is doing that anyways. She said that one dose should do it, but I have plenty in case he needs more. She said there was no need for the antibiotic at this time, so we will stop that and she gave me something to stimulate his appy a bit more. She said that was a once every three days thing, and hopefully he only needs that once as well....

She is on board with the miralax and probiotic becoming a regular part of his schedule and that should help keep him regular once this passes.

She also said that one of their vet techs works at the ER vet and that I shouldn't think twice about anything the ER vet said about how I am treating his diabetes. She said she has never met her, but from what she has heard, she tends to be a bit opinionated. She said that she really shouldn't be commenting as she most likely only sees kitties when they are hypo or hyper and doesn't deal with maintenance aspect of diabetes. I just love his normal vet :)

Still holding my breath until he poops, which hopefully will be soon.....

is it Lactulose?

Sending truckloads of poop vines for Skooter- and hugs too! Cheers to your vet for pointing out that you should ignore what the ER vet tech said about managing FD!! :bighug::bighug: FWUW, With humans anyway, the ER docs are highly trained to deal with crisis situations but they are not as good at dealing with the everyday sitations.

Yes! That is it!

I gave him one dose about an hour ago and he just got up to use his LB. I shall give him his privacy and when he comes up, I will go check.

She did say that she would be doing a poop dance at home tonight in hopes to get him moving :)

Well he had liquid poo.....that is better than nothing, but she counted about 7 old ones that were working their way through and they are moving down....so the watch continues......

Well, Skooter. You're a pretty marvelous little boy...Look you just got a whole bunch of people to "poo dance." Even your doctor. You know what you need to do!

We all look kind of silly. But we're sending the poo vines wrapped in appy vines, in a big box of "get going" wishes for you. And more hugs for your mama.

I'm joining the love-Skooter's-vet coalition. How comforting it is to have a vet who is really on your side.

???? time....so he is not showing as much interest in food as I would like, so I plan to give him one of the mirtazapine for around dinner time. She already broke them down into four pieces for me. So if I want him to be hungry for dinner time, when would be a good time to give it to him? She said he would most likely only need 1/4 of a tab as it lasts for a few days.....

I will be giving more of the lactulose around 8 tonight......

C'mon Skooter we're all waiting for those old poos to evacuate, you will have no privacy until it's done! I am also loving your vet and commencing a poo dance for Skooter. I am copying the steps from Wendy's dancing poos :)

Well I just gave him the mirtz......I will be t/f/s in about 15 minutes....

He has spent most of the day the way I would if I were sick.....in his bed (the one he was laying in when I took his picture yesterday), going to his LB and occasionally going for the food...

I know I probably should have, but I did not take any food up from +10 to preshot, I figure at this point, any food I can get him to eat the better. I am accepting his numbers are gonna be wonky until we get past this poop thing.....

WOW.....that mirtz didn't take long to kick in.....though one thing I learned? Skooter is NOT a fan of squash......so hopefully the combo of the probiotic and the miralax will do the trick........

He is grooming his paws a little bit....I guess that is a good sign.....until he poops, I am looking for any good sign I can.....

I put a small amount of squash or pumpkin in the cat food, not enough to be noticed. Neither of the cats that got it would ever eat it alone.

Be prepared that the mirt might make Skooter quite vocal. Also, 1/8 "might" be a better dose. Some cats respond well to it like Tricia's and others not so much like my Tiffany. It made her very vocal and nervous and only lasted l day instead of 3. I have much better luck with cyproheptadine which I can give up to 2 times a day but lasts longer than mirt for Max. It's another every cat is different.

More poo vines. Once the hard ones are history it sounds like miralax once a day at the most should work. Then again I guess the liquid could be from what she gave her.

Meow-zapine is what our vet called it.:joyful: We had Zener on cyproheptadine for a long time, and he tolerated it better, but as we all know - ECID. :bighug:

Counting down - seven poo pods to poo heaven.

He just got another dose of lactulose as I fell asleep -- no movement yet :(

I don't think he much cares for the lactulose as he just tried to throw up, but I think the alternative (another enema) would be way worse.....so hopefully we see something by tomorrow

Poor thing, it just has to suck to feel like this.....I feel just awful for him....

I give Sasha 1/4 tablet of Mirtz, and sometimes it makes her eat, and sometimes it doesn't. 1/4 is too much for Minka - she gets really agitated and meows her head off, so I try to cut it down as close to 1/8 as I can, and that helps her for a day or two. It takes effect in about 20-30 minutes with her. Skooter is heavier than either of my girls, so the 1/4 tablet might be just fine.

Sending more poo and appy vines.

Vomiting can be a sign the food just can't pass through, so it has to come back up.

He wasn't vomiting at all, just not eating. He has not vomited since we were at the ER vet and that was after he was straining for a period of time, trying to poop. (This was before any treatment, including the enema, was given).

Since then, he hasn't vomited, just not all that interested in food....
