? 4/13 pmps 202 how necessary is it to test at night?

Not sure what to make of Delilah's numbers today. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I haven't figured out how to link yesterday's post to this post yet....
 
Can you stall, no food, and check every 20-30 minutes and shoot 1u when she starts to rise?

Your shot time tonight will be 12 hours from when you shoot this morning. If you stall, don't reduce the dose. Once you shoot, get a +1 and +2.

It'd your decision....normally we stay with you if we advise to shoot but I am working today so can't.

What do you think?
 
She had been pitifully looking at me and standing at her food bowl since the +11 at 8am this morning when she was 131. At 9am her BG was 101 and I feed her cause I couldn't take her sad hungry eyes anymore! What are my options since I feed her?
 
You can skip the dose

You can test again at 11am (after 2 hours without food) and if she's high enough and you have a flexible schedule for shooting tonight, go ahead and shoot the scheduled dose (but you'd need to be able to test today and have supplies if you need them)

You can give a reduced dose of something like .5 ....but even if you reduce the dose, you'll still need to be able to change your shooting schedule (every 12 hours) and be able to test today

Unfortunately, like Marje, I can't be here all day to watch for you, so the safest thing may be to skip....especially if you are low on strips or can't be there today to monitor
 
So I skipped the shot this morning and her numbers have climbed today so I shot 1 unit at 9pm. How necessary is it to test during the night?
 
Also random question... Is it bad to test on one ear more than the other. Delilah doesn't seem to like me to test her left ear so I've been sticking the right more, problem?
 
Most cats have one ear that bleeds better than the other.....China's left ear is her "good" ear...I'd have better luck getting blood out of a turnip than her right ear.

I'd plan on getting at least a +2 tonight if you can....if the +2 is lower than the Pre-shot number, that can be your "early warning system" that they might be going a lot lower so you might want to set an alarm to get another test in later in the cycle

It seems to be a good test to try to get as much as possible....after awhile, you'll learn how dependable the "+2 test" is....some cats do better with a +3 as their "early warning system"

This is also only the 2nd time you've shot at about 200, so it'll make you sleep better if you know she's not going too low overnight

From watching many kitties here, getting a least a test before going to bed is essential. Many kitties prefer going low at night. My Neko is one of those. That +2 or before bed test will tell you if they might go low and whether you need to either test again or leave food out so they'll be safe.
