I was holding off on giving Jack an increase, he has been doing so-so on 27, but a little too much pink for my liking. I was a bit under the weather and put it on hold until I felt better. A little bit of R last night shot him into the greens this morning which I was not expecting. We will see where he heads the next few cycles and make a decision then, I'm still a little out of it and trying to catch up on everything.

Hope all the kitties and beans are doing good today.

Was it a new pen last night? I have noticed the unexpected morning green after a new pen and an SRT vet I met yesterday, who is very familiar with acro cats, said a new pen or vial will show lower #s at the first injection which I always suspected but most folks here said that isn't the case? Bronx also pulled an unexpected green AMPS on me this morn, I think our cats are in cahoots!

It looks like Jack is making sure you pay attention to him. I hope he gives you an answer on the dose soon. I hope you feel better soon.

It was the 3rd or 4th cycle since starting a new pen. I knew about some of the low dose cats responding to a new pen since they last months. As you are all too familiar with.. going through them in 5-6 days, I didn't think they would lose much potency in that short of time. Did she have any hypothesis as to why the first shot on a new pen would have a more pronounced effect?

The general wisdom I learned here is that over time the insulin loses potency, but I don't think I've ever heard anything about the first shot after a new pen.
I'm not sure which of our cats is the ringleader, but they do seem to pull stunts around the same time!

Looks like the boy is on a mission today. I appreciate his consideration in waiting until I was at least partially functioning. If he had pulled this yesterday it would have been torture.

Nice surf going there Jack - glad you waited until the bean was feeling better.:D

I never noticed a new cartridge ( = pen refill) making a difference with Neko, either when she was on "larger" doses or small. Large being relative but at least over 5 units. Her cartridges were lasting a few weeks. The ONLY time there might have been a difference is when I took a cartridge on the road trip to CSU. That was three days each way of 9-10 hours on the road and temps in the 90's. The cartridge was in a cooler near a gel back. After I got back Neko's reductions, which came fast and furious starting on the road trip back, stalled for a bit. I changed cartridges and the reductions started again. Was it the cat? Was it the insulin? Regardless, I never did an increase and a new cartridge at the same time, just in case.

When Doodles became the mystery cat literally overnight, I opened and tossed 3 viles in 1.5 months since they all had the same lot number. (before I used pens so $300 in the trash each). Finally came to terms it was the cat not the insulin. After that we started with the pens and I've never saw a big impact with the first dose or any there after frankly. Any who, how considerate of Capt. Jack to wait until you are feeling a little better. Surf now buddy...
